Logan Simpson

Head Coach

Logan enters his second year as CA's Head Age Group Coach with a wealth of coaching experience and a lifetime immersed in the sport. The son of two swim coaches, Logan grew up on a pool deck. In addition to coaching with CA, Logan served as Volunteer Assistant Coach with the University of South Carolina swim team last year. Previously he worked as Associate Head Coach of Palmetto Aquatics. Logan is also nearing the end USC's MBA program.

Logan also brings prior college coaching experience to the table, having worked as an Assistant Coach at Wabash College in Indiana, a tenure which also included a brief stint as Interim Head Coach of the program. During that time, as the only coach on staff, he executed all recruiting, practice planning, meet preparation, and logistical operations.

Prior to his time at Wabash, Logan served as Head Age Group Coach for Sharks Aquatic Club in Shelby, North Carolina. There he coached all age-group swimmers, helping a pair of 13-14 girls achieve their first Senior Sectionals cuts.

Additionally, Logan has volunteered on deck with the Gardner-Webb University swim program, where his father Mike was the Head Coach (Mike has since joined the USC coaching staff as an assistant swim coach). He has also worked in athletics fundraising at Gardner-Webb, and served as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at GWU during his senior year as an undergraduate.

During his 14-year swimming career, Logan competed for the Sarasota Y Sharks, Y-Spartaquatics, and then Sharks Aquatic Club. He was a South Carolina state champion butterflyer and an All-State swimmer in North Carolina. He later accepted a scholarship to swim at Gardner-Webb, where he majored in English.

Tim Horan

Lead Assistant Coach Top Spin Location

Tim brings a wealth of knowledge to our swimmers, both in and out of the water.  He swam competitively from the age of 8 on through college at Shippensburg University.  Tim currently is a swim coach at River Bluff High School.  Previously, he was a coach for Susquehanna High School in Harrisburg, PA, and the strength and conditioning coach for the girls field hockey team at East Pennsboro High School.  Tim also coached and ran the dryland program for the East Pennsboro Aquatic Club in Enola, PA.   In addition, Tim is an accomplished triathlete, having competed in dozens of triathlons, and he was the 2015 SC Triathlon Series Midlands champion.

Coach Tim brings a unique perspective to coaching in that he is the parent of two year-round competitive swimmers, both of whom swim for the Carolina Aquatics swim team.   He taught both of his children how to swim and coached them until his family moved to SC.  He understands the commitment and demands of both the swimmer and their parents.
