Chris Wolford CEO/Head Coach

Chris Wolford comes to Carolina Aquatics after 3 years with South Carolina Swimming as the Sports Performance Director.  In his time with South Carolina Swimming, Chris advised clubs on training and administrative issues.  He designed and ran the state’s select camps for its top swimmers and consulted with the LSC on policies and programs to improve competitiveness.

Prior to moving to South Carolina, Chris was a Head Coach for 2 clubs and 1 high school in Ohio.  The Cincinnati Marlins grew from 170 to over 500 members in his 17 years with the club.  Greater Toledo Aquatic club grew from 68 swimmers to over 150 in 4 years.  This growth occurred while maintaining the highest levels of performance.  Below are some performance highlights

General Experience

  • Certified Level 5 (of 5) Coach with the American Swim Coaches Association
  • Coached over 20 Junior National Champions
  • Coached swimmers to over 200 High School All-America Awards
  • Coached over 20 Olympic Trials Qualifiers with two semi-finalists and one finalist.
  • Head Coach – Western Zone Select Camp, Tempe, AZ   2013
  • Head Coach – Central Zone Select Camp, Cincinnati, OH 2015
  • Assistant Coach – US Junior Select Camp 2004 & 2009 (Olympic Training Center)

 

Cincinnati Marlins 2000-20017

  • Coached Dan Ketchum to the 2003 Pan American Games Team
  • Coached David Mosko to the 2011 World University Games.
  • Coached 2 Swimmers to the 2015 NCSA National Team competing in Ireland.
  • 2 athletes named to the US Junior National Team (Australia)
  • Guided Cincinnati Marlins to the 2006 Men’s Junior National Team Title
  • Named 2015 Ohio Swimming Coach of the Year
  • 7 National Age-Group Records between 2013 and 2017

 

Greater Toledo Aquatic Club 1996-2000

  • Coached Javier Lopera to a 1999 Colombian National Championship.
  • Guided Greater Toledo Aquatic Club to the 2000 Women’s Junior National Team Title.
  • 2 athletes named to the US Junior National Team (Sweden & Australia)
  • Named 1999 Ohio Swimming Coach of the Year
