2021 Athlete Representative Election Home Page

2021 Athlete Representative Election is complete.

Congratulations to Kevin Cai (Junior Athlete Representative)
and Landon Alarcon (At-Large Athlete Representative)!

The Athlete Representatives serve as the liaison between the athletes who are members of South Texas Swimming and the Board of Directors and House of Delegates.  Athlete Representatives will serve on committees, attend required Board meetings, and have the opportunity to attend USA Swimming workshops and/or conventions.  Two Athlete Representatives will be elected this term and will serve for two years.

To be eligible to nominate someone or vote in the election, you must be a registered Athlete Member of South Texas Swimming, who is at least 13 years old (as of August 31, 2021).

All nominations and voting, including a run-off election if necessary, will take place electronically using Google forms.  Those forms will ask you to enter your First Name, Last Name, and USA Swimming ID to validate your eligibility to participate.  Be sure you enter your information exactly as it appears on your registration record or DeckPass, or your entry will not be counted.  Election administrators will not be responsible for database errors (by clubs, the registrar or USAS) or data entry errors by the participating athlete.

The schedule and form links for the election are listed below.

Event Schedule Status/Link
Nominations Sep 2 – Sep 10 (10pm) closed
Voting Sep 13 – Sep 20 (10pm) complete - not required
Run-off Voting Sep 22 – Sep 27 (10pm) complete - not required

Additional election information:

To be eligible to be nominated and run for Athlete Representative, you must be a registered Athlete Member of South Texas Swimming, who is at least 16 years old (or a sophomore in high school), be an active competitor in South Texas sometime in the last 3 years, reside within the boundaries of the LSC, and expect to live here for at least half of the two-year term.

Election administrators will make reasonable efforts to contact nominated athletes by phone or email if possible.  If the athlete cannot be reached by the close of nominations to confirm their acceptance of the nomination, they will not be included on the ballot.

At the close of voting, the two candidates with the most votes will be declared the winners, unless a run-off is required.

A run-off will be required if…

…no candidate receives 50% or more of the votes cast, in which case the top 3 vote-getters will face a run-off.

...only one candidate receives 50% of more of the votes cast, in which case the one candidate will be declared a winner for the first position and the next 2 top vote-getters will face a run-off for the remaining position.

Questions may be directed to the election administrator, Marc Digby.
