In an effort to improve the LC Championship Meets, the Board of Directors made a change to the entry standard of LC STX. Starting with the upcoming LC STX meet this summer, the qualifying time has changed from "B" to "BB" for all events. South Texas will be taking a team of up to 48 swimmers to the 2023 Open Water Zones in Seven Lakes, NC June 2-4.. The team will be selected based on the 2022/2023 Short Course and 2022 Long Course season's distance events and age. Swimmers must have an AA time in the 400/500, 800/1000, or /1500/1650 Freestyle to apply. Previous Open Water experience is also taken into consideration when selecting the team. Congratulations to Carli Cronk on being awarded The Trischa L. Zorn Award by USA Swimming. This annual award honors the “swimmer or relay team with a disability with the most outstanding performance during the previous year.” Among previous award recipients are Rebecca Meyers, Jessica Long, Marcus Titus and Erin Popovich. Carli, a 16-year-old from San Antonio, Texas, won 12 gold medals at the 2022 Deaflympics in Caxias do Sul, Brazil. She holds multiple USA and world deaf swimming records.
