              Fifteen of Team Santa Monica's finest athletes completed a success-filled five days of competition at the Summer Gold Sectional Championship in Santa Clarita.               The group achieved 21 personal best times, highlighted by Sam Ruddy's 6th place finish in the 200m Freestyle.  Sam raced to a time of 1:55.68 in the preliminaries to earn a trip to the Junior National Championships in Irvine this August.  He also achieved a Junior National bonus standard in the 100 Free, covering the distance in 53.30 seconds.  Congratulations, Sam!              ...

Dear Members of Team Santa Monica:

 The election ballots received for the Board vacancy were tallied on the evening of June 14, 2010 by myself and a neutral team parent.    A total of 75 ballots were received from members.  Of those 75, twelve accounts were ineligible to vote due to account payment status.  The results of the election were as follows:

                    Peter Mitsakos:  22 votes

                    Tamara Muth-King:  4 votes

Congratulations to ALL of the swimmers, parents, and friends who participated in the 2010 Pacific Committee Championship meet this weekend.  The rain was not a deterrent, and we even got to enjoy some sunshine on the final day of the meet.  When the final 1650 was done, Team Santa Monica (TSM) stood in second place in Gold division, made up of the largest teams.  TSM scored over 9000 points for the first time, and showed considerable progress in catching up to Rose Bowl by winning the age group high point...

Team Santa Monica has been selected as a Bronze Medal Club in the 2010 Club Excellence Program put on by USA Swimming.  A description of the program from the USA Swimming website is below.   The USA Swimming Club Excellence Program is a program that recognizes USA Swimming clubs for their commitment to excellence in performance. Anya Pertel (10&Un WEST), Jasmine Margetts (13-14 EAST), Payton Perrotta (13-14 EAST), Tristan Marsh (13-14 SOUTH) will take part in the SCS All Star Festival to be held February 28, 2010 at the Belmont Olympic Plaza in Long Beach.  Eight athletes per gender per age group were selected to participate in the competition.  The teams were selected through a draft process based on an application and performances during the Junior Olympic Meets.  Congratulations swimmers, GO TSM!
