Shark Water Polo Programs

Year Round

CFWPC Sharks compete each season of the year with various age groups and divisions (a little different each season).  Which will also include different practice locations throughout CFISD pools.

CFWPC age groups follow the USA Water Polo age divisions.

  • High School - 9th-12th Grade Athletes, 18U and 16U Age Groups
  • Age Group - 8th Grade & Under - 8th/6th Grade & Younger, 14U, 12U, and 10U

Fall,  Winter, and Spring Season (the school year), age groups are based on an athlete’s year in school (Example: 8th Grade & Under).

Practice Locations:  We have various pools; CFISD Nat, Cy Ranch, Bridgeland and a Conditioning Pool.  As of August 8th  2022,we moved athletes to Bleyl Middle School 10800 Mills RdHouston, TX  77070 on Monday & Tuesday from 5:30-7:30pm and                                                            CFISD Natatorium 12550 Windfern Rd, Houston TX 77064 on Wednesday & Thursday from 5:30-7:30 pm                                                      Currently due to the active High School water polo season we do not have practice on Saturday.

Practice Frequency: Generally, we have always tried to accommodate athletes and their families' commitments. We have server athletes that participate in other sports and clubs. Training sessions can be broken down by skill or commitment . We offer two programs during the Summer; Summer League and JO Training while our Fall/ Winter and Spring Session we offer 4 options. For High School; 4 days or 2 days. For 8th grade and under 4 days or 2 days. For the ones choosing 2 day option; athletes are allowed to train on the days of their choice.

Additionally, there will be opportunities for common training for all the athletes.  Common training is an opportunity for players to train together within their own gender and age groups. These trainings are some of the most important to attend, as you will be with all of the players from your age group in addition to your head coach for each age group. These trainings are held periodically each season.

Tournaments:  Are a vital part of our training, we train and condition to compete. We encourage all Sharks to participate in local and state tournaments. Junior Olympics Training

  • The USA Water Polo Junior Olympics Championship (JO's) is the largest water polo tournament in the US.

  • JO Academy and Summer League age groups are determined by their age (18U, 16U, 14U, 12U, 10U).  An athlete’s age each summer is determined by their age on August 1st.  For example, an athlete who turns 17 on June 29th, their age for the entire summer season will be 17 and that athletes would be placed in the 18U Age Group.

  • 2022 JO will consist of three sessions.  Session 1 and 2 will be in Northern California.  Session 3 will be in the Dallas area.

  • Different teams from the same club are allowed to choose to attend the California OR Dallas sessions (but the same team can't attend both)

  • In order to participate in Session 1 and 2 in California, each team will need to qualify for a slot by competing in the Southwest Zone JO Qualifier Tournament in June that we hope to host again.  This means athletes needs to participate in the qualifier to earn their spot on the team.  Session 3 will not need a qualifying tournament. There will be an option to play in the Dallas bracket at JO Quals.

  • To be eligible to compete, all athletes must be USA Water Polo GOLD members with birth date verification.  If your child wants to play in JOs, please make sure to sign up on USAWP for 2022 Gold membership, complete birth date verification and athletes photo. There is a video and links on our home page to assist in you in registration with USA Water Polo.  You must declare a team with USA our is "CFWPC " Please update your Shark profile to include USA Water Polo #.
