Planning is under way for our annual Solstice SCM Meet on December 7 at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center. This has been a very successful meet for a variety of meetings, not the least of which is a fast pool in a first class facility. But the biggest reason has been the support of so many members of our team who volunteer to help out with the meet. Caren Bancroft finished 31st of 93 competitors in the W45-49 age group. Maggie Bartlett finished 16th of 37 in the W65-69 age group. Carol Braun finished 52nd in the W55-59 age group. Amy Subar finished 19th in the W60-64 age group. Congratulations on not only qualifying, but doing so well once you got there.

Potomac Valley Long Haul Meet (Long Course) featured only two distance events: the 800 and 1500m freestyle. Caren Bancroft and Brian Main swam both. Mark Walters swam just the 800. Three new team records were set. Bryan broke his own record in the M45-49 800m free. Caren broke her own record in the W45-49 1500m free. Mark broke the M65-69 800m free record. Jennifer McVeigh and Kim Peifley competed the 2000m Summer Fitness Challenge on July 25th. In doing so they joined masters swimmers around the country in raising money for the USMS Swimming Saves Lives Foundation.

Amy Subar, Maggie Bartlett and John Landry represented GERM in Cleveland. Amy finished 5th in the W60-64 age group, and John finished 76th in the M50-54, in the Olympic distance. Maggie Bartlett finished 6th in the W65-69 Sprint distance.

Excellent results for GERM swimmers at this event. SPRINT TRI: Greg Nelson and Amy Subar won their age groups in the Sprint Tri. Greg was also 6th over all and Amy was 15th. Johanna Schneider, Jim Rill, and Maggie Barlett finished second in their age groups. Top ten age group finishes were recorded by Tony Papandrea, Andy Joseph, Dave Ruf, and Steve Krempasky.
