FRST 2019-2020

            Dear FRST families,

We want to thank you for an amazing first year as Fulshear area's first official year around competitive USA Swimming Swim team.

As our year comes to a close, we look forward to having another great swim year  where we train hard, have fun and learn to race.  We want to take a moment to look back at the 2019 year and highlight some of the amazing events that occurred.   FRST swimmers have made this team a special place to swim and coach.  We are thrilled the FRST team has quickly made a name for itself locally.

A look back on year one:

  • September 1, 2019--FRST officially "kicks-off" it's first season at the new Fulshear High School natatorium with team gear pick up and a team photo!  More than 100 people came out to join the team.
  • October 5th--FRST Age group teams  go to its first meet at CFID.
  • October 12th--FRST Pre-Seniors, HS and up groups attend a meet at HCAP.
  • October 26th--TWST Halloween meet.
  • October we added a  Pre-competitive group to grow swimming skills locally for new swimmers.
  • November 9th--Meet up at Magnolia for the age-group team.
  • December 7th-14th--Champs Meets--Our age-groupers and Pre-seniors and High School swimmers brought home the awards!  Three different meets in two weeks.  At our 13-up Age Group Champs Meet FRST was the THIRD place team OVERALL!
  • December 18th--Ugly Sweater and Christmas Team Party!--this was a fun way to gather as a team and we look forward to making it an annual team tradition!
  • January 18th--we kick started the new year with an age-group meet--Frosty Invitational up at CFISD.
  • February brought Champs 1, Champs 2, and Champs 3 meets--we had swimmers at each meet and saw best times and fast racing across the board!!!
  • Sectionals Team of 8 FRST swimmers represented our club at a very high level USA meet. Our swimmers gained experience swimming against Olympic hopefuls and also getting some best times. Overall, FRST was loud and proud, and it made a strong statement about our team.
  • March--Team photo day--Prior to our Spring Break we had team photos!
  • June “Graduation” - 2 seniors graduated from our program, both finishing their FRST careers on very high notes. Haley Schmitt competed at the USA Sectional meet and raced to all best times which secured her a swimming scholarship to the University of Connecticut.  Brandon Schmok also finished with outstanding swims, gaining the Tompkins High School record for the 100 back and representing at the State meet.  Brandon will be heading to Texas Tech.
  • As the post Spring-break stay at home order began--FRST quickly pivoted to offer daily Video dryland options and evening team activities from March-May.  We had awesome team activities that included a scavenger hunt, cap throwing video, team puzzles, contests, guest speakers, goal talks, nutrition talks, and more.
  • In June, we were able to return to the pool safely and focus on building a conditioning base with good technique training.
  • As July comes to a close--we look forward to finishing the 2019-2020 year with some fun time trials and kick starting the New Swim Year better than ever.
