USA Deaf Swimming (USADS) is a national nonprofit organization that supports deaf swimming athletes and provides coordination for the national team to participate in international competition. Membership is available for the following types of individuals:

Athletes: Deaf or hard of hearing athletes (hearing loss > 55dB in both ears) of any ability can join USA Deaf Swimming.  Based on ability atletes will be designated as Developmental, Pre-National, or Team USA. Team USA is selected 9-12 months prior to international competition from among applicants with at least 1 qualifying time.

Supporters: Athletes who do not meet the deaf or hard of hearing requirements, Family of deaf or hard of hearing athletes, Volunteers for USA Deaf Swimming, USA Deaf Swimming Board Members.  Supporters receive news and updates and are eligible to purchase team gear.

How can I join USA Deaf Swimming? 

  1. Click on the following link to register with USA Deaf Swimming. The 2022 Annual Membership is now open. This link is also available in the left menu of the USA Deaf Swimming homepage.

  2. Once you complete the registration process, you will be sent a link to pay for the registration online.

  3. To join as a deaf athlete:

  • Click on the following link to download an audiogram file. Athletes must have a hearing loss of at least 55 dB in both ears to qualify. This form must be completed on the required form from USA Deaf Sports Federation that is available at this link. The link to the form is at the bottom of the linked page.

  • Join USA Deaf Sports Federation during an open registration period. Your USADSF membership will be handled through USA Deaf Swimming and you will receive a separate invoice for that fee. This is an update to the membership process as of 7/15/2021.
  • Be an active member of USA Swimming and provide your USA Swimming ID number in registration in step #1
  • Athletes must have at least 1 qualifying time to be considered for international competition. Athletes without qualifying times will be designated as Developmental or Pre-National based on ability.
