SUSA Stingrays Through the Years
SUSA Stingrays began in 2001 as a summer league recreational swim team. Sydne Davies and her family recognized a need for a high-quality, professional swim team for youth in the Southern Utah area. Under their direction, through the tutelage of dedicated coaches, kids all around St. George discovered a love for the water, and for competitive swimming.
In 2006, SUSA became a USA-affiliated year-round program for those same swimmers who had blossomed in its first five summers. After guiding SUSA through its first year of club swimming, Sydne retired. She turned the team over to Head Coach Dani Caldwell and her husband, Adam.
Since then, SUSA has developed into Southern Utah's premier competitive swimming program. We have achieved USA Swimming LEVEL THREE status based on our swimmers' achievements, our insightful development and business plan, and our excellent volunteer program. We have expanded to three locations with nearly a dozen professional, experienced coaches trained in the most current sport science. We have helped swimmers who began years ago with our program fulfill dreams of swimming in college. Others continue to show their passion for swimming by coaching throughout the western United States. We have produced national-level swimmers, high school State Champions, Age-Group champions, Region and State record-holders and a team capable of competing with large northern-Utah and Vegas teams.
More important than our resume, we have produced kids who know how to set and achieve goals, to show good sportsmanship, to be good team members, to show grace in triumph, to overcome disappointment and appreciate their talents, to be grateful to their families and to teach others along the way. It is commitment to these team goals that keep us moving in the right direction.
