Dani Caldwell

We are excited to announce Mike Werner as our new High Performance Head Coach!

Mike grew up in Henefer, Utah and graduated from North Summit HS in 1993. He is married to Serena, his favorite coach, has a son named Ryan and twin daughters Remi and Thea.

How he first got into competitive swimming in the fall of 1994 is an interesting story. A community recreation team was being started at the local pool where he taught swim lessons. One of his friends was asked to help coach the new team. Well, Mike decided that if she could coach and run a team, then so could he. After about three weeks of coaching the North Summit Community Recreation Swim Team (eventually NSST), coaching 3 practices per week for one hour a day, he discovered a passion for swimming that would lead him down the wet pool deck of life! In September of 1995, he took a position with the Layton Surfers (SURF), where he stayed until August of 1999. While at Layton, Mike had the opportunity to work with the Surfers as well as Layton, Northridge and Davis high schools. In August of 1999, he took a position with the Cottonwood Heights Aquatics Team (CHAT), working also with Brighton HS. In December of 2000, while at CHAT, Mike graduated from Weber State University, majoring in Geography, with a minor in Physical Education Coaching/Teaching. In May of 2001, Coach Mike was offered a position at the West Valley City Family Fitness Center, and the next month started the West Valley City Poseidons (WVCP). He coached the Poseidons until November of 2005. In November of 2005, Mike was offered the head coach position of the Park City Aquatic Team (PCAT).  PCAT is now known as Park City Swimming (PCS) and has developed into one of the top teams in the state with big aspirations for it's swimmers to succeed at every level of the sport.
