Iron White Team

The purpose of this page is to provide information for the Iron WhiteTeam training group. As a consequence, this page will be updated from time-to-time with new relevant information. This page has information about the structure of the group, training requirements, expectations, philosophy, etc.

Structure:

The Iron White Team is a USA Competitive Swim Team. The team comprises of junior level swimmers who are working toward a personal best time and state qualifying times.

Typical fall practice times are listed below, but make sure to check the calendar for the most up-to-date times and dates. Practice times may change to do facility issues, etc.

Pool Time:

M, T, H 10:00 am to 10:45 am 

Team Fees:

$140 for the season

+required $20 USA Flex yearly flex membership

 

Meet Information:

We encourage swimmers to attend USA sanctioned meets at least once a month.  By default all swimmers will be registered for planned swim meets unless the event is declined on the Event Sign Up Page.  Swimmers can also attend Pre-Comp Meets.

Training Requirements:

Being a member of the Iron White team means that your swimmer(s) have made a commitment to competitive swimming and are working toward their goals. In order to successfully work toward those goals, it is expected that swimmers attend all practices.

Required Training Equipment: In order to be successful during training sessions it is important that each swimmer comes prepared with the necessary tools to be successful. Below is a list of tools swimmers should have with them every day.

Philosophy/Expectations:

The purpose of the White team is to develop swimmers to qualify and compete in local and state-level competitions.

Training Philosophy: The team is focused on the continued development of all the competitive strokes. We start to introduce conditioning sets to prepare for local competitions. Each athlete should be learning to swim a strong 50 of each stroke and 100 IM.  As a result of this philosophy our training plans are developed with the goal of creating versatile swimmers.

Meet Attendance: Swimmers are expected to attend our pre-comp meets on the 4th Thursday of each month. We also invite them to attend two (2) USA Swimming meets. Coaches will work with each swimmer to determine which events they will swim at each competition. These meets have been planned by the coaching staff and have been placed inside the training plan, making them important to attend as a progression of the training plan.

Goal Setting: In order to create an effective training plan, it is important that coaches and swimmers know where swimmers want to be. Goal setting is the process we use to determine where each swimmer wants to be in the short and long term.

Swimming in College: We believe that all swimmers who wish to swim in college can have that opportunity. In order to make this a reality it is important to continue swimming club through the high school years. A major part of the WOW club is to encourage a life-long love of swimming and swimming in college is part of that process.
