Coach Patrick is entering his fourth year with BASS and is excited for a new season! With nearly fifteen years of coaching experience in a variety of ages and ability levels, he is a well-seasoned coach who loves working with and training all swimmers.
 
He began his own swim career at the age of five with the Greene Hills Gators where he swam until he was eighteen. From age nine to eighteen, he also swam year-round with BASS, during which time he developed a true love for the sport of swimming and became a Virginia Swimming Eastern Zones Champs qualifier as an age grouper. In high school, in addition to BASS, he swam for William Monroe and was the Jefferson District High School Champion and Swimmer of the Year as well as a Virginia State High School finalist in breaststroke, freestyle and IM. After high school, he earned a degree in biology from the University of Virginia where he swam on the club team.

Upon graduating college, Patrick joined the Greene Hills coaching staff where he coached under the leadership of Olympic trials qualifier, Chris Taylor. During the next fourteen years, Patrick became assistant coach of his local high school, worked with athletes of all ages, and eventually became the head coach of Greene Hills. He started coaching with USA swimming a few years ago is thrilled to be back with BASS!
 
In his free time, Patrick still enjoys getting into the pool to train, while adding in plenty of running and biking. When he gets a chance, he competes in local triathlons to keep himself motivated. He currently works with his wife as a photographer in Stanardsville, VA where they live with their six (almost seven!) children.

 

Tavia Hines

Tavia grew up loving the water. At the age of 12 she began swimming on a summer swim team. She quickly grew to love the sport and joined BASS shortly after, where she competed for 5 years. After graduating, the started coaching and is thrilled to be back with BASS!

Currently, Tavia is a senior at Liberty University online studying social work. When she is not doing homework or coaching, she enjoys hiking, working out, and traveling!

 

Bethany Kennon

Coach Bethany previously coached at ACAC and was an assistant coach for Randolph College in 2017. She joined the BASS coaching staff last year and is excited for another season! Primarily working with our Developmental and Age Group swimmers, Coach Bethany is already making a huge impact on our young athletes with her high level of expertise and technical instruction.
 
Before coaching, Bethany swam for Liberty University from 2011-2014 and led the team to a conference championship in 2014 in just its fourth year of existence. Among her accolades are being awarded the NCAA's CCSA Woman of the Year Award and Liberty Athletic’s Dr. Jerry Falwell Leadership Award. She earned a degree in Sports Management from Liberty and resides in Greene County with her husband Wade and their three children.

 

Jen Hill

Senior Silver/Gold Coach
 
Coach Jen has been around swimming pools for many years.  As a swimmer, she competed for Titusville YMCA, Titusville High School, and Allegheny College in Pennsylvania.  Awards included NCAA DIII All American (5 times - relays) and Female Athlete of the Year at Allegheny College.  Additionally, Coach Jen has several active relay records at Titusville High School.  Coach Jen is also an assistant with Greene Hills and an assistant coach with William Monroe High School.  She loves being around water in general (boating and fishing too!) and enjoys working with young swimmers.
 

 

Matt Morgan

Coach Matt is a seasoned swimmer and swim coach, with more than 30 years of pooltime. His swimming journey began at the age of 10, when he learned how to swimthrough the Red Cross swim program at his local community pool in Landisville, PA. Within a few years, Matt was swimming and competing on US club teams, in addition to the Hempfield High School Black Knight varsity swim team, where he assisted his team with winning three sectional championships, two district championships, and a fourth-place state finish during his sophomore year. Matt was a co-captain his senior year, and when he graduated in 1995, was one of the top ten fastest swimmers in the school’s history.
 
After graduating high school, Matt went on to swim on a partial scholarship at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. There, Matt specialized in several events, including the 200 butterfly, 100 freestyle, and 200 freestyle. He was a three-year qualifier for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships.
 
From 2012 until 2017, Matt was a water safety instructor with Powell Wellness Center, teaching swim lessons to everyone from 6-months to 60 years of age. Matt also was the varsity swim coach for Eastern View High School during this time, where he had the opportunity to work with a variety of high school swimmers and ability levels. Matt has also helped coach the Culpeper High School Swim Team and the Culpeper Barracudas. At BASS, he focuses on coaching our Age Group Silver group where he is making a huge impact on all of the young athletes!
 

Jenna Erickson

Age Group Silver/Gold Coach

BASS is thrilled to welcome Coach Jenna back to the BASS family as an Age Group Silver/Gold coach.  She began her terrific swim career at a young age with the BASS swim team (where she still holds several team records!) and eventually swam for the University of Virginia, where she specialized in freestyle and backstroke events. As an age grouper she was a Virginia Swimming Eastern Zones Champion and while in high school, she qualified for and competed at the USA Swimming National Championships.

The years Coach Jenna has spent in and around the pool have helped shape her into a coach with a wealth of knowledge that will help take our BASS swimmers to the next level. She currently works as a nurse and lives near Woodberry Forest with her husband and their six children.

 

Gigi deToll

Age Group Coach

Coach Gigi was a part of the BASS family for many years, and we are ecstatic to have her back! Her swim career began with BASS, where she was a phenomenal swimmer, breaking the 50 fly state record as an age grouper and later setting the East Coast Sectionals Meet record in the 100 fly. After high school, she swam for the University of Maryland, during which time she qualified for and competed in the Olympic Trials and won the ACC 100 fly title in her freshman year while breaking the school record.

After graduating college, Coach Gigi spent some time coaching with BASS, and later pursued a career in nursing. She currently lives in Culpeper with her husband and their three children. The BASS swim team is looking forward to the level of expertise that Gigi will provide for our swimmers!

 

Spring Payne

Coach Spring joined the BASS family in the fall of 2021 and is excited to help teach and lead our young aspiring swimmers again this year!  She swam for the Greene Hills Gators from age 5-18 while also swimming year-round with BASS. Working primarily with our 12 & younger athletes, Spring has been an amazing coach for our novice and age group swimmers.  In addition to her coaching with BASS, she coaches summer league for the Greene Hills Gators.

Coach Spring graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in industrial engineering and Boston University with a masters degree in urban affairs. She currently lives in Madison, VA with her husband and their four children.

 

Tim Kibler

Coach Tim is joining the BASS coaching staff this year as the Lead Dryland Coach! He brings an immense amount of knowledge to the specialty from the skills he developed as a young athlete as well as from his professional career.

Coach Tim started swimming with the Greene Hills Gators at the age of five and swam until he was eighteen, during which time he also swam a few years with BASS. He competed for his high school as well, where he was a Virginia High School State relay finalist. His love for sports and strength training eventually led much of his focus to other areas as a young athlete, including football, basketball and track and field. He ultimately played football for James Madison University where he was trained by some of the top professionals in the state. Since that time, Tim has enjoyed coaching swimming for Greene Hills and athletes of all ages in football and basketball.

Coach Tim graduated from JMU as an Occupational Therapy Specialist and has more than fifteen years of diverse experience in the field. His level of knowledge in injury prevention/rehabilitation from his career, in addition to his experience in the weight room and pool as an athlete, will be critical in the development of BASS swimmers. He currently lives in Greene County with his wife and four children.
