Coast Guard Blue Dolphins Swim Team is happy to offer American Red Cross lifeguard certificationclasses.  This class is a hybrid with self-paced online learning and in water training.This class includes CPR/ First Aid/ AED certifications.

Students learn to recognize hazardous situations to prevent injury. They learn to effectively supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate pool users, enforce rules and regulations, provide assistance and perform rescues.  Reviews are also offered periodically.

To participate, students must be 15 years old by the final class date and must demonstrate the following skills:

    *Swim 300 yards continuously
    *Tread water for two minutes using only the legs
   *Complete the following timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive, feet first or  head first, to a depth of 7 to 10 ft. to retrieve a 10-lb object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards on the back to the starting point, with both hands holding the object, and exiting the water without using a ladder or steps.
 

Once the class is passed, the certification is good for two years.
