Coaches and Directors
Shannon Royster is in his eleventh year as an assistant coach for NOVA South. He began his year round swimming career at the age of 8 by joining the Tritons of Petersburg, which later became VACS. He enjoyed great success as a swimmer as he won several events at the Virginia Junior Olympics and swam with the Virginia All-Star team in Buffalo, NY at Zones.
Shannon went on to juggle many sports through high school as he played football and basketball while still swimming competitively. He went on to swim in college at Longwood where he displayed swimming leadership and served as captain of the team for 3 years. In 1999, Shannon graduated with a BA in history with the purpose of becoming a 4th generation educator.
He returned to his hometown of Hopewell, VA and taught 8th grade civics for 6 years at Carter G. Woodson Middle. In 2005 he became the 6th grade assistant principal at CGW. Shannon’s love for coaching children became a passion as he created the sports program at the middle school. He coached the middle school basketball team from its inception to 3 consecutive championship titles with 69 wins and only 3 losses. From 1999 to 2009, Shannon also coached varsity football at Hopewell High School and he was the passing coordinator for the 2003 State Championship team while coaching the wide receivers. In 2009, Shannon was appointed Principal of CGW.
Shannon completed his
17th season as the head swim coach at the Swim and Yacht
Club in Colonial Heights. He has coached the SYC
Barracudas to five Southside League Championship regular
season and Championship meet titles.
Currently with NOVA South, Shannon directs the High School Group,
and serves as an all around super sub.
Natalie Zoldork has been a part of the swimming world since she was 7 years old. She grew up swimming competitively on VACS which is now NOVA South . She went on to be a Division 1 athlete at George Mason University. Natalie specialized in long distance IM, Breast, and Fly. While at George Mason, Natalie got her degree in Integrative Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education. Natalie coaches on Wood Dale and has worked her way up over the past 6 years to become Head Coach this past season. She also teaches swim lessons and lifeguards. She loves to be by the pool and her passion has always been swimming. Natalie is also a Special Education teacher in Prince George.
