Virginia Gators of Charlottesville

In 2000, the Virginia Gators of Charlottesville Swim Club was formed to offer high-quality swim training from beginner to elite with a focus on balancing physical, social, and emotional development in assisting swimmers to reach their personal goals. Since that time, Head Coach JJ Bean, has been committed to providing a personal approach to helping every swimmer improve every day. Unfortunately, the Gators have been forced to take an indefinite hiatus due to the loss of access to our 23-year home at Fairview Swim Club. The lack of alternative pool space in the Charlottesville area has prevented us from continuing our programs at this time.  If you are looking for a swim program that shares our program values, we highly recommend the BASS Swim Team at Boar's Head and the Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club at the Crozet Park Pool. Coach JJ Bean will be assisting those programs where many of our swimmers will practice this winter.

We thank Coach JJ, our Gator families past and present, our Virginia Gator sister teams, and the Charlottesville community for embracing and supporting our Club for the last 23 years. Keep on Swimming!

Piranhas Summer Swim Camp

6 Weeks: June 7-July 16

Monday-Thursday

11 and Older: 9:30-10:15 (some advanced 10 and unders may be asked to swim at this time)

10 and Under: 10:15-11:00 (some beginner 11-12s may be asked to swim at this time)

Piranhas summer swim camp is a 6-week competitive swim clinic run by the Virginia Gators (Waynesboro) year-round swim team. Swimmers will be divided into groups based on age and ability. We welcome swimmers age 4-18 who can swim across the width of the pool safely. Swimmers in the beginner groups will focus primarily on learning freestyle, backstroke, and dives. More advanced swimmers will work towards mastering the four strokes, learning racing strategies, and perfecting sprinting capabilities, starts, and turns. Mondays will be team-building days where we will run occasional intrasquad meets as well as offer fun activities such as tie-dye and popsicle parties, turn clinics, etc. Older swimmers may swim long-course (50-meter pool) on these days. Swimmers wishing to participate in the Virginia Gators Summer Classic swim meet June 18-20 may do so with the coach's permission and an additional fee.

Swimmers participating in the program are asked to wear a one-piece suit to practice and bring goggles, a small foam kickboard, and a swim cap (provided). We recommend Sporti antifog S2 mirrored goggles (junior or regular) and Sporti junior kickboard from SwimOutlet.com. Click here to shop SwimOutlet under our Virginia Gators Affiliate.

Cost: $70 per swimmer. $5 discount for additional siblings. A team cap and shirt are included in the fee.

Due to COVID precautions, group sizes will be limited and we expect to fill up fast.
