Coaches
Originally from the Philadelphia area, I've been involved in swimming as long as I can remember. I swam at Foxcatcher and Germantown Academy under former Olympic coach Dick Shoulberg. I was a state champion in high school. I swam one year at Rutgers University where I was an Atlantic 10 champion and then transferred to Clarion University where I was a 4 time All American. I was a coach in PA before I moved to Virginia and coached the past 8 years at a year round team here in Virginia. I teach 6th grade math at Aylor Middle School in Stephens City. I have an amazing wife, Stephanie, who was also an all American swimmer at Clarion. We have one daughter, Madison, who is swimming also. I am excited to be coaching here at Phoenix.

Born in SoCal way back in the middle of the last century. Was raised, grew up, swam, coached summer & travel teams in Roanoke '50-'70s, swam at Lynchburg '70s, more school Blacksburg '70s, trained & explored at UCLA for national experience two seasons '70s. Coached at Quantico Devil Dolphins, Woodbridge in the 80s. Owned a 30+ year engraving service & retail awards business in Prince William, VA 1980s-2014. I love the western states this side of the San Andrea fault line. Spirit animal is the Bison/Buffalo. Escaped the suburbs & hubbub as far west as I could manage, while married to Gretchen who works for the Dept. of Justice in DC. Have three (mostly) grown sons Scott & Ryan (twins), Blake (the extra), two dear stepdaughters, Erika and Alicia... all are employed and have health coverage. Then there is one fine son in law Joe and a ginger headed grandson Carter. I tried retirement, but there are no raises. Weekends are reserved for exploring, living in the Valley, and beyond with my bride. I teach private summer swim lessons specializing in adults, I coach technique and mechanics, do online sales via Shenandoah Blue Ridge Gallery, sub teach mostly elementary Warren County schools. I will be asst. coaching at RMA this winter. Fortunately, Coach Brad found me in a CVS parking lot, am now with this Phoenix team, and I thank you for the opportunity.
