Congratulations to all our swimmers and families who participated in our first swim meet in 5 months on Saturday at the Sherando Park pool.     So many  smiles on deck and happy folks enjoying an outdoor swim meet.  It was a great day.  Many thanks to the team at Frederick County Parks and Rec for stepping up and allowing our swimmers to race in a fun end of summer swim meet!!   The meet results are posted on our SVSL page CLICK HERE.

Next up is our WST Long Course Meet scheduled for August 28 - 30 @ Jim Barnett Park.  The meet invitation is being finalized.  If you plan to participate please sign up asap. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP

Then we have a great opportunity to swim an open water meet October 3 & 4 at Smith Mountain Lake.  The 2020 East Coast Open Water Championship Meeet sign ups are coming soon.  CLICK HERE for the host team page.

Yoga will continue through August 25th, Tuesday mornings 7am to 8am weather permitting at Jim Barnett Park.

Tentatively and weather permitting we will be in the outdoor pool at Jim Barnett Park and possibly the  Clearbrook Park pool till September 8th.

2020 - 2021 REGISTRATION: (Please Read Carefully)

Our onlne registrattion is delayed as we wait on Jim Barnett Park to help us out with our practice schedule.  The delay is not knowing how many swimmers we are allowed in each of our practice sessions.  In the mean time we are trying to get and idea how many of our current swimmers plan to swim with us during the 2020 - 2021 season.  As many of you know it is a year committment.  We do not have the flexibility to offer smaller sessions due to limited practice time throughout the year.  And due to Covid 19 our time may be limited even more.  If you have not spoken to me or emailed regarding your plans for 2020 -2021 please do so asap.  It will help us with our planning.  Please let me know if you plan to continue or if you are taking the year off for what ever reason.  Thank you :-)

If you registered for the summer and have not committed for the Aug. 17 to Aug. 27th practice schedule leading up to our Long Course Meet (Aug. 28 - 30) please email kelly.warnagiris@winchesterswimteam.com ASAP.    The fee for summer swimmers is $50 for the 2 additional weeks of practice.

Our last day of summer practice is August 15th.  Our year round program technically begins Monday, August 17th.   If you are not planning to swim with WST for the 2020 - 2021 season or did not sign up for the additional 2 weeks of practtice 8/17 to 7/27, then your last day of practice will be August 14 or 15 depending upon your practice group schedule.   If you need clarification please email me at kelly.warnagiris@winchesterswimteam.com.  Thank you all for your patience again as we work through these ever changing and unchartered waters.

Our LC committees are working hard to adjust update our meet invitation.  Once we get our sanction approved we will start sending out updated information.  Currently we are planning on a 3 day meet Fri/Sat/Sun.  2 or more sessions per day.  Approximately 2 - 4 teams all within Covid guidelines.   We will send out more information as soon as some things are finalized.   If you plan to attend please sign up on the meet page by clicking on EDIT COMMITMENT.

WST LC Meet 2020 tab at the top of our WST homepage.

Please contact our meet director emily.simko@winchesterswimteam.com  if you are interested in joining a committee.

Kelly Masters has been kind enough to volunteer to help our team with Spirit wear sales.  She is currently gathering  suggestions from parents on what they would like to purchase.  Please send your ideas to kelly.masters@winchesterswimteam.com.  Looking at a tentative September sales block.

Covid has definitely put a damper on our social calendar this year.  If you have any ideas for the social committee or if you are interested in helping plan a social event please email kelly.masters@winchesterswimteam.com.

Athletes are required to complete the APT within 30 days of their 18th birthday. An automatically generated email is sent from USA Swimming 30 days prior to that day, on their birthday and 30 days following it. Because of this, it is most important that we have the athlete’s email address in SWIMS, not just the family email address. In December, SWIMS was modified to identify if an athlete’s 30 day APT grace period expires during a swim meet and, if so, none of the athlete’s times for that meet will be entered into SWIMS. Bottom line: the athlete must complete the APT prior to the first day of the meet in order for the times to count.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!!
