Brenda Homer Westminster Canterberry Coach

Coach Brenda grew up in a swimming family of 5.  She started swimming competitively at the age of 5.   When she moved from Manassas, VA to Winchester, VA Coach Shelly Lee was her coach who continued to encourage and develop not only her swimming talent, but also her love for the sport and helping others to succeed.  A few years ago, Coach Brenda was given the opportunity to help develop a new generation of swimmers at Westminister and could not resist this chance to give back to the community and the sport that had given her some great memories and life lessons.  As an added bonus she gets to work with some great coaches, parents and children.

Jessica Barr Coach

Coach Jessica began swimming at age 8 with her local summer league as part of the Shenandoah County Swim League. She began year round swimming under Coach Trey in middle school and continued to swim under him until she graduated high school. Unable to stay away from the pool, Coach Jessica volunteered with a USA swim team in Charlottesville throughout college. In the summers, she stayed very busy by working as an assistant coach for both her hometown summer league and previous USA team. Coach Jessica is also a certified Water Safety Instructor and has served as the youth swim lesson coordinator at the Woodstock Pool for the past five summers. Coach Jessica graduated from the University of Virginia with a master’s in teaching. She credits much of her success to the numerous life lessons she learned through swimming and truly believes she wouldn’t be the person she is today without the encouragement and support of her coaches and teammates throughout her swimming career.  Currently, she is a 4th grade teacher at Frederick Douglass Elementary School. Although still living in her hometown, Coach Jessica calls Winchester her second home and is excited to be back on deck working with familiar faces and meeting many new faces all at the same time!

Chelsea Vossler Coach

Coach Chelsea, originally from Pennsylvania joined the Winchester swim team several years ago with her husband, Greg Vossler, former Handley swimmer, and their sons, Gregory Jr. and CJ. Coach Chelsea is no stranger to the water. She began swimming competitively at the age of 8. She continued her swimming career through college at Misericordia University, where she was selected captain, was an individual and relay conference champion, and during her rookie season, led the team to a Mid-Atlantic Conference Championship. Since “retiring” from the sport as a swimmer, Coach Chelsea has spent the past several years working with high caliber swimmers in Pennsylvania. During those years, Chelsea worked as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Freedom High School, coaching the Patriots to an impressive season. Chelsea assisted her husband, Greg Vossler, in creating a new college swim team and has coached several summers for a summer swim league. Coach Chelsea also has over 10 years experience in life guarding and teaching swim lessons. Coach Chelsea has both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work, and has a passion for working with children and helping others. Coach Chelsea is looking forwarding to being involved with the swim team and helping the young athletes grow!   She also loves being a moom to her two boys Gregory and CJ!!

Lorraine Curtis Coach LoriBeth

Coach LoriBeth is excited to be joining the Winchester Swim Team!  Originally from Rochester, NY, LoriBeth has been swimming competitively since the age of 8 and enjoyed specializing in the breastroke and I.M. at LeMoyne College.  After she moved to Winchester in 2007, she spent several years as an assistant coach with the Valley Swim Team Phoenix and had fun coaching the Stonebrook Stringrays in the Shenandoah Valley Summer League.  As a former teacher and full-time mom of two, LoriBeth loves working with kids and helping them achieve their full potential both in and out of the water.

Alisha Hilliard Coach Alisha

Coach Alisha has rarely been far from the water, as she grew up loving it, be it the pool or the ocean, from a very young age. She started swimming competitively at 8 years old in Indiana and competed in the sport through her senior year of high school. She started coaching novice swimmers during the summers at the beginning of high school. From her senior year through the beginning of her graduate school work, she coached age group swimmers year-round for 6 years. Alisha has a master's in sport and exercise psychology and a master's in counseling from Ball State University. She is currently working on her dissertation for her PhD in Sport Pedagogy from the University of Southern Mississippi. When she lived in MS, she found an opportunity to provide swim lessons at a wellness center in town. Missing the fun of coaching, the smell of chlorine, and witnessing swimmers' progress firsthand, she was overjoyed to join the WST at the beginning of September in 2019.
