Vallejo Aquatics Club is a year round swim program affiliated with USA Swimming. VJO's constant goal is to help and develop athletes through our program to be successful both in and out of the swimming pool. Our athletes train all year round looking to better themselves to achieve their goals in this sport and enjoy the spirit of competition. Through our program, student - athletes will learn basic fundamentals of this sport from a young age that will be reinforced to a habit as they grow older. Student - Athletes will also learn how to train aerobically and anaerobically to gain the conditioning and speed that will be required as athletes further themselves into their careers.

SENIOR GROUPS | Ages 12 - 18
SENIOR GROUP INFORMATION [ CLICK HERE ]
The Senior Groups are divided into 3 different groups. The Great White Sharks, The Thresher Sharks, and the Blue Sharks. These senior groups are the most advanced, and oldest, groups on VJO's Swim Team. Athletes in this group will need to show the maturity, both mentally and physically, as well as carry the responsibilites that come with being in this group. Senior group athletes will be asked to uphold the integrity of our team and be an example of what our team represents on top of achieving their own highest individual successes.
**There may be outliers that can make the Senior group at a younger age, however - the discussion will need to be had between parents and coaches before the move happens.**
The Senior group will have 3 divisions. The divisions will be based on training ability, time standards achieved, attendance commitment, and maturity. The movement in this group will be from a collective agreement and input from the Senior Group's coaching staff. The divisions will be made for training purposes and what fits best for the athlete and their needs. It is important that athletes and parents allow the coaches to make group placement decisions based on the coaches’ experience and the familiarity with the swimmers.
JUNIOR GROUPS | Ages 8 - 13
JUNIOR GROUP INFORMATION [ CLICK HERE ]
The Vallejo Aquatics Junior Group is split up into two different groups. The Tiger Sharks & the Zebra Sharks. These are practice groups that will mainly revolve around the kids from the ages of 8 - 13 years old. The Junior Group swimmers will learn and develop stroke fundamentals and balance, efficient training habits, and leadership skills. Athletes in this group will start learning the requirements needed in order to move up into the Senior Group. Requirements such as having the maturity to be coachable, leadership skills, accountability and have an enthusiasm about training.
The two groups will be separated based on age/grade, training ability, time standards achieved, attendance and maturity in the group. The training time is the same across the whole Junior group, with some slight adjustments depending on upcoming meets - it is the level of the practice that will seperate the two groups. The movement in this group will be made from a collective input between the coaching staff and is based on an evaluation of the current or past season. It is important that athletes and parents allow the coaches to make group placement decisions based on the coaches’ experience and the familiarity with the swimmers.
HAMMERHEADS | Ages 5 - 9
HAMMERHEAD GROUP INFORMATION [ CLICK HERE ]
The VJO Hammerhead Group is an introductory group that will mainly revolve around the kids from the ages of 5 - 9 years old. The Hammerhead Group swimmers will learn and develop stroke fundamentals and balance for all 4 strokes, as well as learn how to be stronger and more comfortable in the water. Athletes 9 & Under should be learning about how to train but still have FUN incorporated into their fundamentals. Our coaches at VJO try and do their best with Working Hard and Playing Hard too.
**Athletes who are 8 or 9 are eligible to transition to the Junior Group, however - that change will happen after Coaches and Parents discuss the options.**
