The Vicenza Mako Sharks offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Vicenza Mako Sharks here to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.


Novice -Level Groups (Beginners)

Novice I and II are our entry-level groups. An athlete needs to be able to safely swim 50 meters of two different strokes to enter Novice I. Athletes in Novice I and II focus mainly on learning the four legal competitive strokes, start and turn techniques, and most importantly, having fun!!

Workout Days/Times: 2-3 times per week

Age Group (Intermediate)

From Novice II, athletes move into Age Group.  An athlete needs to be able to swim a 200M IM to be considered for this group. Age Group focuses on building endurance, stroke technique, perfecting dives and advanced turns.

Workout Days/Times: 3 times per week


Senior Group (Advanced)

From Age Group, athletes move into Seniors.  Athletes in this group are typically at least 12 years old and have completed the Seniors' Group skills list. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected. Athletes train for the 400M Individual Medley and for the 800M and 1500M Freestyle races. Athletes entering the Seniors group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level of which they are capable. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Seniors are directed towards chieving their EFSL Championship times.

Workout Days/Times: 4 times per week
