The Vicenza Mako Sharks offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Vicenza Mako Sharks here to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

 

Novice -Level Group (Beginners)

This is our entry level group. An athlete needs to be able to safely swim 50 meters of two different strokes to enter this group. Athletes in this group focus mainly on learning the four legal competitive strokes, start and turn techniques and most importantly having fun!!

Workout Days/Times: 2-3 times per week

Age Group (Intermediate)

From the Novice group, athletes move into this group.  An athlete needs to be able to swim a 200 IM to be considered for this group.  This group focus on preparing for the 800 Free also.  This group focuses on building endurance, stroke technique, perfecting dives and advanced turns.

Workout Days/Times: 3-4 times per week

 

Senior Group (Advanced)

From age group, athletes move into this group.  Athletes in this group are usually at least 12 years old and have completed the Senior Group move-up skills list. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in the athlete's development. Athletes in this group train for the 400 Individual Medley and 800 Freestyles. Athletes entering the Gold group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Gold group are directed towards making their EFSL Championship times.
