COVID-19 POLICY COMPLIANCE

For the 2021-22 Vicenza Mako Sharks Swim season, there exist many unknowns regarding COVID-19 policies and restrictions for access to swimming facilities and travel.  The Mako Sharks are planning for a full season, but we must remain prepared for changes, limitations, and cancellations beyond our control.

In order to register for the 2021-22 season, swimmers, parents and volunteers must acknowledge that they will comply with all military, garrison, host nation and facilities requirements to masks, social distance, provide negative COVID-19 test results and/or vaccination certification as may be required in order to participate in practices, meets, and/or other team events.  This may also include limitations on spectators during meets.

Failure to comply with restrictions puts the entire team at risk of spreading COVID-19 and of losing our access to practice and meet facilities.  Failure to comply with restrictions will be dealt with through the Code of Conduct process and may result in removal from the team.

Swimmers, parents, and volunteers must acknowledge that evolving regulations and restrictions may alter practice and/or meet schedules during the season.  These changes may occur on short notice.  The Mako Sharks executive board and volunteer coaching staff will do everything in our power to navigate through any changes and minimize the impact to the team; however, all members must be flexible to respond to changes.  Families are encouraged to make flexible travel arrangements.  The Mako Sharks are not responsible for costs related to cancelled meets and/or travel restricted by military, garrison, or host nation directives, nor for any other damages that may result from the failure or inability of any swimmer, parent, or volunteer to comply with COVID-related policies.

Failure or unwillingness to comply with COVID-related restrictions does not excuse the Mako Sharks' volunteer requirement for each family.  Volunteers are critical to the execution of successful meets and in other areas of the program year; we will continue to need high levels of parent participation during the season.  The volunteer coordinator will work with families to help them earn their required hours within their abilities.

EFSL COVID-19 STATEMENT

The European Forces Swim League has taken enhanced health and safety measures for the protection of EFSL swimmers, volunteers, and spectators. We require that all participants follow posted instructions during EFSL-sanctioned swim meets.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and even death.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. European Forces Swim League and the Vicenza Mako Sharks cannot prevent you, or your child(ren) from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while participating in EFSL-sanctioned events.  It is not possible to prevent the presence of the disease.  Therefore, if you choose to participate in an EFSL-sanctioned event, you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

BY ATTENDING OR PARTICIPATING IN EFSL-SANCTIONED SWIMMING COMPETITIONS, YOU VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH EXPOSURE TO COVID-19 AND FOREVER RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS THE EFSL AND THE VICENZA MAKO SHARKS SWIM TEAM AND EACH OF THEIR OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS, EMPLOYEES OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVES FROM ANY LIABILITY OR CLAIMS INCLUDING FOR PERSONAL INJURIES, DEATH, DISEASE OR PROPERTY LOSSES, OR ANY OTHER LOSS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE AND GIVE UP ANY CLAIMS YOU MAY HAVE TO SEEK DAMAGES, WHETHER KNOWN OR UNKNOWN, FORESEEN OR UNFORESEEN, IN CONNECTION WITH EXPOSURE, INFECTION, AND/OR SPREAD OF COVID-19 RELATED TO PARTICIPATION IN THIS COMPETITION.
