Profile                       

Current National Team coach, Norm Wright, has served as a professional swim coach all his working life, starting when he completed his undergraduate degree in 2003. With experience in both developmental and high performance sides of coaching, he has a passion for making the athlete’s experience as good as it can be.  Wright is a dedicated leader with over fifteen years’ experience creating and nurturing successful relationships. Focused on collaborating daily with both internal and external partners, Wright has always had a vision for success and delivering results in every setting throughout his career.

Experience
CEO/Head Coach, Northern Kentucky Clippers Inc. — 2015-2019

Wright’s impact on the Clippers has shown he is a visionary and leader.  He has led the team to its first ever Club Excellence Gold Medal ranking, placed swimmers on US international championship teams such as Pan American Games, Junior Pan Pacs, and World Juniors, and implemented the "Clippers Development Model" for the organization and community.  

Director of Competitive Swimming and Aquatics/ Waynesboro YMCA, 

Head Coach, Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club (SMAC),  — 2010-2015

Wright’s legacy was cemented in the SMAC swim team by leading the team to its first ever Club Excellence ranking, finishing top-100 as a Silver Medal Club.  Wright’s impact on the swimmers he coached resulted in placing swimmers on the Junior World Championship Team and an appointment to the Youth Olympic Games team. In addition, he had swimmers qualify for the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Trials. 

Assistant Coach, Georgetown University — 2009-2010

In the short stint that Wright was at Georgetown University he aided the team in recruiting and coaching athletes at the National and Conference Championship level. 

Associate Head Coach, the FISH — 2008-2010

Wright’s impact has been echoed by the athletes that came from the FISH team.  Wright assisted Olympic Coach Benecki with placing Kate Ziegler on the 2008 Olympic team while also winning the Eastern Zone Sectional championship. The FISH earned their only Club Excellence Gold Medal ranking during Wright’s tenure with the team.
