Future’s Championship Recap – Day 1

ODAC swimmers were presented with opportunities on Day 1 of the 2021 USA Swimming’s Futures Championship in Richmond Virginia and they didn’t let them slip away without performing on an elite level.  50% of ODAC’s prelim swims turned into final swims!!

*** Thursday Finals Highlights include: ***

Ben Mauldin – Finished 20th overall in the Men’s 200M Free, producing a personal best of 1:56.10!!

Blake Johnson – Followed Ben by finishing 3rd overall in the Men’s 200M Free going 1:52.86, which is a personal best and also an LC Senior National qualifying standard (Speedo Summer Championships)!!!  With the swim, Blake clinched a NEW Team Record that was held by Daniel Cook set in 2016.

Ben Mauldin – Finished 9th overall in the Men’s 200M Fly going 2:04.68, which is his 1st LC Senior National qualifying standard (Speedo Summer Championships)!!

Blake Johnson and Wyatt Walsh also swam the 100 Breast in Finals, finishing 24th and 32nd respectively.

ODAC swimmers that represented the club in prelims not listed above were Jacqueline Scheneman (200Free), Cooper Gavin (100Breast), Carson Yoder (100Breast), Zach Brinson (100Breast) Mattie Oberley (200Fly), and Zane Roberts (100Breast).

Day 2 tomorrow carries high expectations and excitement!!
