Extended Programs

ODAC Alternate Programs include the following:

  • We will not be offering the Preseason High School training this year.

Pre-Competitive Team

Due to Covid 19 - this program has been discontinued for this year.

ODAC recognizes that there are many swimmers who enjoy swimming but are not ready for the commitment of a year-round swim team. We also recognize that there may be swimmers who are willing to commit but are not ready for the rigors of full-time competitive swimming. Our Pre-Competitive team is a program that accommodates any swimmer interested in swimming during the winter, but not ready for the year-round team. The Pre-Competitive Team practices twice per week. The first session runs from the middle of September through the week before Halloween. The second session runs from the second week in April through the middle of May. This is the perfect program for someone who enjoys swimming but is not sure whether they are ready to commit to the year-round team because they will be swimming for four out of the first six months of the fall and winter season. Even if the swimmer does not have any interest in swimming with a year-round team, swimming four out of six months will definitely increase their swimming skills for the summer season.

The Pre-Competitive Team focuses mainly on stroke technique for all four strokes as well as giving instruction on turns and starts. Practicing only two times per week, the goal is not to build endurance, but rather to build knowledge of the proper skills over a period of time. During each six-week session, there will also be two intra-squad meets to time the swimmers and monitor progress. The "meets" will take place during regular practice time and will only involve swimmers in the Pre-Competitive Team.

Pre-Season High School-

Due to Covid 19 - this program has been discontinued for this year.

Each fall, ODAC runs a program designed to help high school swimmers get a jump on their swim season. The four-week program runs Tuesday to Thursday the entire four weeks prior to the beginning of the high school swim season. This program emphasizes technique at the beginning of the four weeks but definitely builds fitness toward the end of the session. While our athletes will surely vary in ability and experience, with sufficient staff and six lanes to work with, we can make sure that each athlete is working at his/her own pace to get ready for their high school swim season. Prior high school swimming experience is not necessary, but we do get many repeat customers who feel that it helps their high school swimming experience!

Swim America Swim School

This ODAC-sponsored program is a swim lesson program that teaches children how to swim with proper stroke techniques for children ages 5 and over.  There is also a separate curriculum for preschoolers ages 2 1/2 to 5 years of age.  This portion of the program stresses independence and general water development and movement.
