Ted Sallade
Ted Sallade Head Coach

Ted joined Poseidon Swimming in the spring of 1993. Throughout his career, Coach Sallade has enjoyed success coaching swimmers at all levels—from the beginning swimmer to USA Olympic Trials qualifiers. He holds a Business Administration degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and is a four-time Virginia Swimming Coach of the Year recipient. In 2009 Ted was selected Head Men's Coach for USA Swimming’s National Select Camp. Ted is a certified Level 5 coach with the American Swimming Coaches Association, and contributes over 39 years of experience as an athlete and coach to the Poseidon organization. Ted engages with the coaches and athletes at all levels within the team while directing the training of Poseidon’s Senior group. He coaches all levels of swimmers at Woodlake. 

Coach Sallade previously served on the Virginia Swimming Board of Directors as Senior Swimming Chairman and previously served VSI as Coaches Representative and Virginia delegate to USA Swimming. Ted was VSI Head Coach and staff member to numerous Eastern Zones teams.

Athletes under his guidance have recorded numerous National Top 16 performances, including number one rankings, National records, many qualifiers to Junior Nationals, USA Senior Nationals, USA Olympic Trials and has placed athletes on several USA National Teams. In addition Coach Sallade is most proud of the countless athletes who have achieved USA Swimming Academic All American status. 

Ted and his wife Joanna reside in Richmond and have two sons—Joss and Cooper.

Joss has been coaching at Poseidon since 2012 and works with all levels of swimmers. Joss swam for the Granite Marlins for 14 years and coached there 2008-2015. Joss served as the Site Director and Lead Coach at Poseidon-MAC, led clinic instruction at MAC, and was the former Head Coach of MAC's summer league team. He is pursuing a Master's degree in Elementary Education at VCU. In his spare time, he enjoys weight-lifting, swimming and mountain biking. 

Barbie Gregory
Barbara Gregory Assistant Coach

Barbie has been coaching with Poseidon since 2011. She works with swimmers of all ages at Poseidon and is excited to be part of the Poseidon swimming family. Barbie was also the Head Coach of Bon Air Community Association’s summer swim team. In addition, she taught swim lessons and stroke clinics for over 10 years at RWFC-Briarwood (now ACAC). She has a Bachelor of Science in Geography from James Madison University, where she was a member of the varsity swim team and a CAA champion. She is married with three school-aged daughters and in her spare time likes to swim with a local masters team and run.

Kris started with PSDN in August 2019. She swam for Quest Swimming for 10 years before going on to swim for the University of Mary Washington for 4 years serving as captain during her senior year. Go Eagles! Kris has been involved in coaching swimming at various levels for the last 7 years. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology from UMW in 2017 and receiving her Masters in Secondary Education in 2019. Kris is a first year Biology and Ecology teacher at LC Bird High School. Kris is excited to be a part of the new Poseidon swim school as well!

Taylor Hague

Taylor joined Poseidon in 2019 and has been coaching youth athletic programs in the Richmond area for 5 years. A graduate of East Carolina University with a BS in Kinesiolgy, Taylor has coaching experience in Olympic style lifting and writing sport specific strength and conditioning programs. 

Taylor swam competitively 9 years for Quest before going to swim at East Carolina University, where she was a 4 year varsity athlete. She still holds two of the top ten records for the program in the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke. Taylor notes that swimming in college was a very special time in her life and will always be a very proud Pirate! 

Taylor is currently applying for Nursing school with the hopes of eventually pursuing a career as a Nurse Practitioner. She enjoys spending free time with her family at their house in the Outer Banks as well as adventuring with friends and boyfriend on the weekends.
