Congratulations to Kasey Kirschling

Vashon Karl Swim Team

The Seals would like to congratulate Kasey Kirshling on graduating Vashon High School - class of 2020. You have been such a huge part of the Seals for more than a decade and we will miss you. Here is a look back at your career from head coach Randy Turner:

It has been my great pleasure to have coached Kasey Kirschling during his swimming career.  He has turned into a great young man that has a very bright future.  He has served as Seals Captain since he was 14.  He is one of only a few Seals that have competed at the NW Regionals, swimming against the best athletes from seven states.  And he has served as a valuable member of the Vashon Pool Lifeguard Staff for several years.
I learned that Kasey is an interesting character pretty early.  I remember returning from a swim meet back when he was only 9 or 10 years old.  He spent most of the ferry ride explaining to me how the motors worked on the rescue boats.  He knew all about horsepower and motor operation.
It has been a notable swimming career for Kasey.  He first competed in 2009 at the age of 8 with times of :26.4 in the 25 freestyle and :30.6 in the 25 breaststroke.  He followed up these races with 611 more during his career.   Kasey brought home his first blue ribbon in just his third meet, and followed it up with 46 more first-place finishes.  He brought home the 2nd or 3rd place prize another 89 times.  He became a member of the sub-1:00 club at the age of 13, eventually dropping his 100 free time to :52.7 seconds.
Kasey holds several team records.    In the 11-12 age group, he holds the 50/100/200 breaststroke and 100 IM.  In the 13-14 age group, he holds the 50/100/200 breaststroke, 200/400 IM, and 50  butterf ly .  In the 15-18 age group, he holds 50/200 breaststroke, and 50/100/200 butterfly.  Those 15-18 age group records also are the all-time fastest swims in team history.
Kasey has represented the Seals at many high-level meets.  He was in the NW Regionals (2014), PNS 14&U Short Course Champs (2013, 2014), PNS 14&U Long Course Champs (2013, 2014, 2016), and PNS Senior Champs (2016, 2018, 2019).
Kasey has achieved this level of excellence with grit, determination, hard work, and goal setting.  Keep reaching for those goals Kasey!  Congrats on your graduation, and good luck at WSU.
