Coaches
Randol Turner Head Coach

I have been with the Seals since the spring of 2007 and as a coach, my main focus is to foster an athlete’s love of swimming.  My career began at the age of 10 with the ACES Swim Team in Colorado, and I went on to swim during high school and at the University of Oregon. Prior to joining the Seals, I coached for three seasons with the Holly Pool summer team in Colorado.

My coaching philosophy is based on proper technique, endurance, and diversity.  I hope to make all of my swimmers well rounded, while also ensuring that they have fun. The two life lessons I hope to teach are sportsmanship and the process of goal-setting - using short-term goals to achieve the long-term.

In addition to coaching the Seals, I also manage the Vashon Community Pool and I'm a Red Cross certified lifeguard instructor.

Karl Stetson Assistant Coach

I have been an assistant coach with the Seals since 2017. I grew up in Missoula, Montana, where I was a competitive swimmer from the age of 7 to 18. My father was a very successful age group, high school, and college coach, which has given me a unique perspective on the sport.

My coaching philosophy centers around technique, grit and building life skills. My job is to help our swimmers achieve their goals, whatever they might be, and to create a team atmosphere that is fun and supports every swimmer. Being on deck is the best part of my day and to have the opportunity to work with and help shape young lives is something that I am very grateful for. Swimming had such a positive effect on my life and I'm happy to be paying that forward by working with the Seals.

Lisa MacLeod Assistant Coach

I expect swimmers to succeed at their highest level of ability, both in and out of the water. My main objective is to support the head coach in developing progressive, technique-based training plans that form a strong foundation for success. Life-skills such as responsibility and accountability to self and team, personal goal setting, commitment, and good sportsmanship are also key components in our strategy for athlete development.

At the heart of all great teams is spirit and cohesion. We create an atmosphere that encourages respect, camaraderie, and support to every member of the team.

I have coached for more than fourteen years now and work with the Seal Pups and Stroke School groups. I am also a PNS Official. I run my own Identity Development business and recently completed my master’s degree in Organizational Systems: Leadership and Organizational Development.

Holly Galliway Assistant Coach

My spirit animal is a dolphin and my love for the water began at Little Traverse Lake in Michigan at the age of 3. I found competitive swimming at age 6 and dedicated my life to the sport all the way through College. During my senior year in high school, I was the only female in Missouri to make state qualifying times in every individual event. I held 50, 100, 200 freestyle records in college that went unbroken for 10 years and was voted Most Valuable Swimmer all 4 years at the national qualifying meet.

Over the past 20 years, I have been in and out of the world of swimming, most recently coaching at the Gig Harbor YMCA. I am very excited to be joining the Seals and hope to develop well-rounded athletes, with a solid work ethic and positive self-esteem.

Vanessa Rawlings Assistant Coach

I recently relocated to Vashon from Miami, Florida, and have an extensive background in swimming, scuba diving and free diving. I am currently an emergency room nurse with a master’s degree in advanced practice nurse practitioner. As a coach, I focus on technique and correct body mechanics, as well as creating a fun learning atmosphere. I love Vashon and firmly believe that swimming is the best exercise no matter how old you are.
