WHY CHOOSE BAC?

BAC was formed in the Fall of 1999 when existing clubs in the Madison area merged to provide a better product for their swimmers.  So while we've been around for over 20 years, our roots in the area go back even further.  Throughout our existence, BAC has provided professional coaching and instruction to hundreds of kids in the Madison area each year.  We pride ourselves on developing a lifelong love of the sport in our athletes - something evidenced by the dozens of BAC alumni competing at the collegiate level.  We take getting better seriously, but we also know that the heart of youth sports should be about learning life lessons and having amazing experiences.

The best way to learn about BAC is to talk to one of our current families - every summer team in the area has some!

PRACTICE SCHEDULES AND FEES

We offer programming at 4 different locations; the west side of Madison, the east side of Madison, Sauk Prairie, and Baraboo.  Each location has similar roster group names and descriptions, but schedules vary from one location to another.

The best way to find a schedule for the location that you're interested in is to click on the appropriate tab on the front age of our website.  Each page will have links to the planned fall practice schedule as well as fees for each group.  You can also link to each page by clicking the links below

MADISON GROUPS - west side & east side schedules and fees

SAUK PRAIRIE - our programming based out of the fabulous new Sauk Prairie HS Pool

BARABOO - our programming based out of the Jack Young MS Pool in Baraboo

MEETS AND MEET SCHEDULE

Meets are not formally required for the majority of our groups, but they're certainly encouraged!  Meets are fun and exciting and a great way to keep your swimmer motivated and illustrate the progress they've been making in the pool!  Most swimmers compete in about 1 meet per month, though some times of the year are busier than others.  We offer a wide variety of meets in order to serve our different swimmer populations.  Swimmers can 'keep it local' by staying in south-central Wisconsin, or we offer higher-level meets across the state and beyond.

REGISTRATION FOR MADISON-AREA BACers

**REGISTRATION FOR OUR MADISON-AREA GROUPS DEPENDS ON IF YOUR SWIMMERS IS A NEW OR RETURNING BACer!

  • FOR 'RETURNING' MADISON BACers
    • 'Returning' means that your swimmer has been active with BAC at some point in the last 12 months
    • Returning BACers should check with a coach familiar with their swimmer (or Coach Jacob) prior to registering
    • Returning BACers simply need to fill out the registration link below - do NOT sign up for a New Swimmer Evaluation

  • FOR NEW MADISON BACers
    • This includes swimmers that have never been on a USA Swimming club before, swimmers transferring from another club, or swimmers that have been active with BAC in the past, but NOT in the past 12 months
    • New Madison BACers are REQUIRED to participate in one of our "New Swimmer Evaluations" before joining the team
      • Swimmers can choose one of two dates;  August 8th - 11th or August 29th - September 1st
      • Click the link for more information on our FALL 2022 NEW SWIMMER EVALUATIONS
    • New Madison BACers do NOT need to select a roster group or fill out the registration for returning swimmers.  We will gather that information from you at a later point

REGISTRATION FOR SAUK AND BARABOO SWIMMERS

  • REGISTRATION FOR ALL INTERESTED SAUK AND BARABOO FAMILIES IS THE SAME
    • Returning swimmers should connect with our coaches to determine their group placement
    • New swimmers should read the descriptions and make a 'best guess
      • We will either confirm the group placement the first week of practice, or we may be able to offer some 'preseason' opportunities to evaluate new swimmers
      • BARABOO/SAUK SWIMMERS DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER FOR NEW SWIMMER EVALUATION

FAQs

  • When do I pay fees?
    • Don't worry about paying any fees for Fall 2022 at this point.  We typically wait to send invoices until the season has actually started - it makes things easier if we make adjustments to groups, etc
    • (Returning BAC families should make sure all outstanding invoices are paid before registration will be processed.)
  • When should HS girls register?
    • NOW!  Obviously, our HS-aged girls don't start with BAC until their HS season is over.  However, interested swimmers should register NOW to reserve their spot
    • This also goes for girls that aren't sure about winter plans.  No commitment or fees at this point, but we want you to register to get an accurate accounting of our interest level
  • What if we want to join later in the fall?
    • Please register now - nothing different than what's stated in the registration material
    • We may or may not be able to accommodate swimmers looking to late start and prorate.  In the past, many of our groups have been at capacity, so much so that we've turned away dozens of qualified and interested swimmers.  If that's the case for a particular group, it can be hard to justify 'holding' a spot for a late-start swimmer vs accepting one who wants to begin right away
  • What if we're interested in just the winter session?
    • Similarly, this is something that we're okay with in theory, but that becomes more difficult in practice.  If we have space for new swimmers to join for our winter session, we'll certainly look to accommodate them then.  But it's entirely possible that some of our groups will be at capacity at that point, limiting who we can bring in additionally
  • Do you do any Dryland Training?
    • One of the 'silver linings' of operating differently over COVID is that we were able to revamp the dryland training for our older groups.  Coach Connie has been doing physical fitness and strength training for over 25 years, and she leads excellent dryland training for our older groups.
