INFORMATION FOR BOTH NEW AND RETURNING SWIMMERS INTERESTED IN OUR MADISON-AREA PROGRAMMING

SUMMER 2023 SESSION: MAY 27TH - SEASON END JULY/AUGUST

WHAT IS THE REGISTRAITON PROCESS?

The registration process is essentially the same for every family - new to BAC or returning swimmers - interested in our Madison groups.
We have a registration link on the front page of our website - this is for EVERY interested swimmer - returning & new alike
The main difference for new vs returning swimmers is in selecting the swimmer's group
- Most RETURNING swimmers will stay in their groups, but swimmers should consult with their current/recent coach to double check group placement
- NEW swimmers can read the group descriptions and/or email Coach Jacob - [email protected] - to sign up for the 'best guess'. We may adjust registration later, including through the first week of practice.
Registration is open now, and closes Friday, March 17th.

DOES IT MATTER IF MY SWIMMER IS NEW OR RETURNIING?

Swimmers that were active with BAC this fall or winter session are considered 'returning swimmers' and efforts are made to prioritize those swimmers
HOWEVER, historically our spring session has NOT filled, and we anticipate being able to accomodate interested new swimmers again this year

HOW DO NEW SWIMMERS GET PLACED INTO GROUPS - ARE THERE 'TRYOUTS'?

Historically in the fall we've had to schedule some pre-season 'New Swimmer Evaluations'. These are introductory practices to help determine proper group placement for new swimmers, and have also been de facto 'tryouts' when space is limited
Typically in the spring we do NOT have New Swimmer Evaluations. However, if the interest level from new swimmers exceeds space, we may have to schedule some - we'll know more after March 17th.
Instead of a formal evaluation, we ask that new familes read our group descriptions and/or email Coach Jacob - [email protected] - to make a 'best guess' at proper placement.
- Adjustments are often made once we see them in the water, including through the first weeks of Spring practice

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WS MADISON AND ES MADISON GROUPS

Obviously, the main difference is the location; our WS (west side) groups are based out of Edgewood and Middleton, while our ES (east side) groups are based out of Monona Grove
For Fall 2022 we offered 'abbreviated' practices on the ES - less offerings and time than the WS counterparts for an appropriately lower fee. That's the case again this spring, though our Trophy, MS, and HS groups have 3x 1 hour - an extra practice compared to the fall/winter
- ES swimmers are also welcome to join the WS practices on weekends or other days that are available
We also have some groups - Junior, Junior Premier, Senior, and Senior Premier - that are combined and not listed as either ES or WS

MADISON AREA GROUPS & GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

MADISON AREA FEES

There are two fees listed for several of the groups
- The first fee listed is for just the 8-week SPRING session
- The fee in (parantheses) includes appx 8 more weeks of SUMMER - at a discounted rate!
- The Junior Premier, Senior, and Senior Premier groups are ONLY for swimmers interested in spring & summer, and LBs is only offered in the spring
Fees include FREE TEAM SHORTS! These are items we haven't offered before, so we're excited to see everyone outfitted in new BAC gear!
- Other items - including suits and shirts - will be available through Simply Swimming when we do a 'spring clothing order' later in March.
Fees do NOT include the $82 USA Swimming registration fee or additional fees for meets
- Swimmers active with BAC this winter are registered with USAS for the calendar year 2023 already
