Wisconsin Swimming
Level 2

Equipment Needed

For practices the swimmers will need a practice suit - which for boys should be a “speedo brief” style or a “jammers” style swim suit.  Sorry, boys, no board shorts.  Additionally, girls should practice in a one-piece competitive-style swim suit. Sorry ladies, no bikinis are allowed (unless they are specifically made for swim training).  Swimmers should also have their own swim goggles, a swim cap (if they wear one), duffle bag and a towel.  In addition to this basic swim equipment, swimmers should have athletic shorts, tee shirts and sneakers for our dryland practices.

Also, while at Beloit College, we recommend locking your clothes in a locker as there are multiple groups using the college facilities and it’s always better to be safe than sorry.  Swimmers may also bring their clothes onto the swim deck in their duffle bag to be safe.

When we practice outdoors at the Ledges Pool in the mornings, swimmers typically arrive in their suits under sweat pants and shirts.  There are only small changing facilities available at the Ledges, no lockers.  And the air can be cold some mornings so please dress accordingly.  The water at the Ledges Pool is heated and is always comfortable for our training despite what the air temperature may be.
