Do I have to be a good swimmer to join the team?

We encourage each beginner swimmer to complete the Wisconsin Swim Academy - Swim Team Ready program, or level 4 RedCross swim lessons. This level of ability will give your swimmer the needed knowledge to take next steps onto our competitive swimming team.

Do I have to try out?

We offer a Trial Week for beginner swimmers (11 & under or anyone without competitive swim experience) and a Transition Week for more advanced swimmers (12 & Over with competitive swim team experience). Information about both of these trials can be found here:

Trial Week

When is the season?

- Our Fall & Winter season (short course) runs from September to the end of March.

- Our Spring & Summer season (long course) runs from April through to the end of August.

What if I’m involved in other sports?

We have many athletes on our team who participate in other activities. Our program offers many different practice times and options.

Do I have to swim every day that is offered?

No. You may attend up to as many session days that are offered in your group. However; Remember that your child’s level of participation will directly affect their improvement as a swimmer. Our teaching process is to build each week on the previous week’s lessons and concepts. Athletes who attend consistently gain the benefit of this teaching style.

How often are competitions?

There are many opportunities for competitions most weekends through the season. These events will be emailed and posted on our events page on the website. We also host two home meets in Appleton that are mandatory for all our athletes to attend as a way to measure their improvement, support their teammates and attend a social team event. Our Event page can be found HERE.

Is there a lot of travel involved?

Most meets are within an hour of the Fox Cities area. These meets are typically good for beginner swimmers and travel is easy. We do attend further away meets which are usually reserved for more advanced swimmers. These include championships at a state and national level.

Where are practices held?

Practices are held at the Appleton North High School, Neenah High School and Erb Park Community pools. Practice times and locations are dependent on your group.Locations for pool can be found HERE.

What equipment does my child need?

Each athlete, at minimum, needs to have their own swimsuit, towel, and pair of goggles. A swimming cap is optional but recommended as well as a water bottle. More information about recommended equipment is available HERE

What is the cost to join the team?

Registration fees are based on the team's expenses. These expenses include pool time and coaches time and equipment usage. Fees can be found for the current and/or upcoming session can be found under “Practice Information” on the team website.

What are the parent/volunteer requirements?

We exist because of our parent volunteers. Volunteer requirements can be found HERE.
