Fun Senior State Meet

Coach Zimdars

Our senior swimmers did an awesome job racing at state, with some overcoming sickness and still pushing through and doing best times.  Young Liang swam all 4 days and made it back to finals in all of his events, too (switched it up and raced backstroke this weekend and came near a national bonus cut!).  We had different swimmers racing different days as we are preparing for nationals next week.

This is truly a fun group of hard working athletes that are an awesome example to our younger swimmers, not only in the pool, but in the classroom.  All of them are high academic students.  As of today (not all ACT scores are back), 3 of these 6 swimmers have a 30 on their ACT.  Absolutely incredible!  We are so very proud of their work ethic and commitment to school and swim.

We started off with Young racing Thursday, in the 200 IM where he did a fantastic job and made a new national cut.
Friday brought in Gaby de Moya-Cotter and Ella Houwers who joined Young for some more great races.  Gaby did all season best times in both her 200 free and 100 fly.  Ella and Young added a bonus national cut, in their 400 IM's and both placed in the top 8, as well.  Ella also added a bonus national cut in her 200 free.
Ella Gorski and Grace Foucault joined Young as they all raced in the 200 back and all did best times.  Young dropped his time again, at finals.
For the last day of the meet, we had the whole team there, with Dani Cramer, Gaby, Ella H, Ell G, Grace, and Young racing.  Gaby continued to swim season best times in both of her events.  Grace Foucault and Young added best times in their 100 backs, while Ella H did a best time in her 100 free.  We had a fun finals with Young placing 4th in his 200 breast and the girls placing 8th in their 400 medley relay (Ella G, Ella H, Dani, and Grace).  The relay was the last event for us and it was a nail biter, too.  So much fun to watch and a great way to end our state meet.
