Hey Team! As I write this, I am sitting at the MN Regional Championship Meet back in Hudson and watching 16 of our swimmers doing an awesome job! We have a lot to finish up in this last week of practice!

  • N, AG, PS, S: This is your last week of practice. See info below about our spring session.
  • Developmental: Our March session starts on Monday!

To be considered for this, the coaches are looking for things like a positive attitude, hard work, showing improvement on technique, being on time for practice, listening to coaches, respecting teammates, etc.

Congrats to our swimmers of the month: Syd Thompson & Ryan Sell! Please see Brenda for a swim cap!

Any changes to our state entries based off of swims this weekend need to be communicated with me by noon on Monday so we can get entries updated.

TEAM BANQUET - Monday, March 11 @6:30pm

The banquet will be on the 11th at 6:30pm in the high school commons. We will eat and have a short presentation of awards by Coach Michael. We should be done by 8pm.

Invites were sent out on Friday. All swimmers and their families from the fall & winter sessions are invited. Please RSVP through "Sign Up" and increase the number attending for all family members coming so we can plan accordingly. Also, this is a pot luck, so sign up your family to bring something.

We are still getting all the financials complete, but things are looking pretty good! As the meet director, I want to thank all the families that were able to help out last weekend and who were willing to roll with the punches as we certainly ran into our fair share of hiccups throughout it! Swimmers, parents, siblings, grandparents, former swimmers, coaches - everyone went above and beyond to make the weekend run as smooth as possible. We have received great feedback from the MN Swimming officials as well as coaches. THANK YOU - and here’s hoping we get another shot at hosting this next year!

Here are a few notes from Coach Michael about the swimmers:

  • We had 25 swimmers compete this weekend; 24 of 25 dropped time in at least one event! Collectively as a team they dropped over 824 seconds on all swims combined throughout the weekend; that's 13 minutes and 44 seconds of time taken off of swims! There were 110 swims total, and 84 of them were events where times were dropped. There were 24 new B and BB times established over the course of the weekend.
  • Biggest time drop of the weekend goes to Amethyst Morrow who dropped over 2 minutes and 32 seconds in her mile! Other big time drops for Mickey Baar who dropped over 1 minute in her 500, almost 40 seconds in her 400 IM, and almost 20 seconds in both her 200 Free and IM. Anika Coleman dropped 45 seconds in her mile. Agnes Flasch dropped 13 seconds in both her 100 back and 50 breast.
  • Almost the entirety of our Age Group swimmers dropped between 9 and 15 seconds in at least one event, and many of them dropped that much or more in two or more. They are really starting to step into their own and get faster and stronger.
  • Our swimmers spent the weekend cheering for each other and supporting their teammates. It was fun to see them interacting with each other during races and having fun while showing off how fast they have gotten in the last few months.

Details we have in place as of right now:

  • Spring session in Ellsworth: April 15-June 9
    • Practice times: N- 5:30-6:30pm, AG- 5:30-6:45pm, PS- 6:00-7:30pm, S- 6-8pm
  • Summer Session: June 10-August 2, hopefully back in RF
    • Practice times: in the morning, specifics coming soon. We will likely hold a couple evenings a week for N/AG again. This is all subject to change yet as we work out final details with the school district, park & rec, as well as coaching staff.
  • Registration: online registration will open by April and emails will be sent when it opens.

Congrats to everyone on a great season so far! Good luck to those remaining this weekend and those heading to State at the UofM next weekend!
