2020 YMCA SPDY Capital Drive

Mike and Monica Sperl

Dear Swim Team Families,

We miss you! We are excited to see some practice begin this week. We certainly hope this email finds you and your family doing well and staying safe.

Prior to Safer at Home, we embarked on an ambitious capital drive for a new timing console which includes deck cables, software, projector and screen, starter and touchpads. In addition, the project would support the purchase of iPads for coaches to use during practice. Just before COVID-19 arrived in our community, we were set to ask all of you for your support of this important project.

We’re at a loss now for what the right next steps are. We know this pandemic has affected everyone differently, including job loss. We are sensitive to the fact that kids aren’t all back in the pool yet, and we’re not sure how soon everyone can be back in the water. But we are hopeful and confident that one day meets, practices and the crazy will return.

Despite these challenges, we were fortunate enough to receive a match donation of $10,000 from a generous donor. If we can come together this year and raise $10,000, we can hit our $20,000 goal. So as difficult as it is to ask, we feel we must. All contributions to this SPDY capital campaign will be considered restricted gifts and cannot be used by the YMCA for any other purpose.

In the days ahead you will receive in the mail the letter and pledge form that was prepared pre-COVID asking for your support. Please carefully consider pledging your support to the 2020 YMCA SPDY Capital.

Thank you.
