Storm Pre-Season Message #1 Fall Registration Thanks to all those that took the warnings and registered early. We have 159 swimmers registered to this point, 39 more than we did last year at this point. Meanwhile, there will be a total of over 40 new swimmer registrations for the session, too. Registration Caps We’ve long beat the drum on the emphasis of registering early, and if possible working your way onto a committee or becoming an official to gain access to the pre-registration window. This fall will mark the first...

This season will be a season of a few big changes.  The first change we’re ready to announce today: The move from Adidas Swim to TYR. When I started in Sun Prairie in 2014, I was quick to get our club signed with a major swim vendor.  I worked with the board and we researched several big companies, but I was personally intrigued by Adidas Swim.  We were a team finding its footing and Adidas Swim was doing the same.  In the three years since signing our contract with them,...

Sun Prairie Storm is proud to welcome Michael White as its New Full-Time Head Coach.  “As we enter this next chapter of our team's development, as a board we knew that the depth of experience that Michael brought to the table was needed to help the Storm achieve an even greater level of excellence!” Brad Gunnink, SPS Board President. “The foundation for the Sun Prairie Storm is strong, supported by a large group of swimmers and an excited and passionate base of involved parents.  I’m looking forward to the challenge...

Dear Storm Families, I have attached a link to Erik Olson's decision to this email. As you read it, I would like to clarify something that makes the Storm seem unwilling to meet with DFAC to work this out. We were unwilling to meet before any appeal because we thought it would set a dangerous precedence by allowing our team to be forced to accept some sort of compromise position on pool usage, rather than the position that is clearly spelled out in the board policy. We are and will...

Dear Storm Families, I want to let you know the Sun Prairie School administration has ruled on an appeal of the Deforest Aquatic Club for pool time at the SPHS pool. Erik Olson, the Assistant Superintendent, (email - etolson@sunprairieschools.org), reversed the decision of Phil Frei, Director of Business & Finance, who originally denied the appeal last week. Mr. Olson instead decided to give some of the pool time previously awarded to us on June 30th to DFAC, in direct opposition to the facility use policy adopted by the school board...

The Sun Prairie Storm Swim Team (SPS) is finishing up its first year, and couldn’t be happier. The non-profit organization started in August and began looking for pool time and eventually an interim head coach. “We knew there were a lot of kids who wanted to swim for a Sun Prairie swim team so we were mainly concerned about finding a pool and a good coach,” says board president Brad Gunnink. Storm found pool time at MATC and found a great coach in Alan Lerner and had a 69 member...
