Storm Forecast for January 24th, 2022

High School Boys

One of the difficulties with the Senior group is reintegrating 30+ boys with an existing group of 35+ girls. Add to that managing group sizes in a pandemic and we have an impossible problem.  So, what we’ve done is this:

  • High school boys that didn’t participate in JV conference will train with the Typhoon group for the remainder of the short course season (through Regionals).
  • The boys that swim in JV Conference will be split between the Typhoon and Senior 1 group.
  • The boys that swim in the Conference Champs or Sectionals will be split between Senior 1 & 2.

A separate email will come out tomorrow with group assignments and registration details.

This Thursday

We are without ANY water Thursday due to JV conference being hosted at SPHS.  We attempted a few dryland options but had no luck.  Therefore, there will be no practice for any groups this Thursday.

Saturday

See below for the practice schedule for Saturday, all at SPHS.

Blood Drive

We have filled all volunteer roles and donor positions for the blood drive this weekend—thanks to everyone who helped!

12&U Meet

Details are filling out for Sunday’s Storm hosted meet.  This’ll be the quickest, easiest home meet of the season.  We’ll post heat sheets and entry lists either Thursday or Friday.

Regionals

The end of the season for the majority of the team will be the Regional Championship meet, held this year in McFarland.  This is open to ALL swimmers, from Thunderstorm to Senior group, for anyone who doesn’t have a full slate of state events.  Friday’s events are more for swimmers with B cuts or better, but Saturday and Sunday are appropriate for all ages.  We’d love to have every Storm swimmer participate in at least one session of the meet.  On Saturday/Sunday, 12&U swimmers race in the morning and 13&O compete in the afternoon.

Speedo Sectionals

Because of the long course format of the Speedo Sectional meet at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex (and also because it’s at the RecPlex), we’ve discussed with the Senior 2 swimmers some backup options for an end of season meet.  It looks like the group has agreed to travel to the University of Missouri in Columbia to compete in that Speedo Sectional, held in short course yards.  It’s a top facility in the country and looks to be a fantastic time.  The meet hosts are still ironing out details, but we’re looking at March 10-13 with the standards below:

Start of Spring

Following the Speedo Sectional meet, swimmers, parents, and coaches alike will get a well needed break from the chlorine for the remainder of March.  We’ll resume after Sun Prairie’s spring break ends, March 28th with the start of our long course season.  The spring session will run from the 28th through the end of the school year, with the summer session going from May through the end of July.  Both sessions will have different schedules than the current schedule, with projected earlier start times in the spring and AM/PM + outdoor training opportunities in the summer session.  Stay tuned for details.
