Alan Lerner Associate Head Coach

Swimming & Coaching History

Coach AJ has over 30 years of swimming experience spanning across multiple associations, including: Madison All-City Swim & Dive League, Tri-County Conference, USA Swimming, WIAA high school swimming, and NCAA Division I collegiate swimming as a member of the UW Badgers. As an athlete, he won multiple Wisconsin state titles and is a three-time All-American swimmer.

Coach AJ has been coaching in the Dane County area for over a decade. He's developed multiple swimmers ranked top 10 in the nation, Wisconsin state champions, Zone qualifiers, and NCAA Division I athletes. The teams he has coached have all enjoyed an increase of young athletes who have learned to love the sport of swimming.

He believes that swimming is about the 3 F’s: Fun, Fitness, and Family. The fun of success through hard work, the fitness and health earned through consistent training, and the lifelong friends that are built through a close-knit swimming family.

Personal Life

When not at the pool, AJ enjoys working on his own personal fitness, he continues to try to get into the pool to this day. He also spends time reading and playing games with his son Dayton and daughter Mellody (who also love to swim!), walking his two dogs with his wife, and raising his youngest daughter Tatum.
