With The Storm:

Coach Michael White became the first full-time head coach of the Sun Prairie Storm Swim Team in August of 2014.  Since joining the team, the number of swimmers on the club has grown from 100 to over 240, making SPS the third largest team in the Madison area.  The team has gone from 68th in Wisconsin in 2013 to the top 10.

The coaching staff for the team has doubled and Sun Prairie Storm became a USA Level 2 Club in 2015.  In 2015, Michael was voted onto the 2015 Wisconsin Zone Team coaching staff, where he was the lead coach for the 10-under boys group.  In 2016, Coach White coached the Wisconsin Open Water Zone Team.  In 2017, he was elected the Age Group Chair of Wisconsin Swimming and was a nominee for Long Course Coach of the Year.

Prior to Sun Prairie:

Razorback Aquatic Club AquaHawgs (Head Age Group Coach, 2012-2014)

Before moving to Wisconsin, Michael spent two successful years as the Head Age Group Coach and Masters Coach for the Razorback Aquatic Club AquaHawgs in Springdale, Arkansas.  There he was named the 2014 Arkansas Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year.  His swimmers have broke team, state, and LSC records and placed in the top 10 in the nation for their age.  Several of his swimmers have qualified for the Central Zone Age Group Championships and Speedo Sectional Championships and several earned NCSA Junior National & USA Swimming Futures cuts.  During this time, the AquaHawgs saw their greatest national rank, #287 among all teams in the United States.  In addition, the club went from USA Level 2 recognition to USA Level 3.  Michael was a member of the 2013 Arkansas Zone Team coaching staff (Topeka, KS).  

Huntington Y Charleston Aquatic Team (2010-2012)

Prior to coaching the AquaHawgs, Michael was the head coach for the HYCAT program in Huntington, West Virginia (2010-2012) where he earned the 2012 West Virginia Age Group Coach of the Year Award. During this time, the team doubled in size and had regional, zone, and YMCA National qualifiers. HYCAT of Huntington produced several Southern Zone swimmers during his two years at the helm and HYCAT won 4 state championships during his time there.  Michael was the 2012 Southern Zone Team Head Coach (Rockwall, TX), the 2012 West Virginia Open Water Select Camp Head Coach, and an assistant coach for the 2011 Southern Zone Team (Cary, NC)

John Marshall High School Monarchs (2005-2010)

Michael’s first major coaching duties were at John Marshall High School, in Glen Dale, West Virginia.  Following graduation from college, he took over his alma mater and grew the program from a 3-9 men’s team to a Ohio Valley Athletic Conference runner up, West Virginia Region 1 Champion, and top 10 state team.  Michael coached multiple conference event champions, 9 state championship finalists, and his swimmers broke several team records.


Coach White has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (2005, Marshall University).  In 2014 he co-authored a study with the University of Arkansas on fluid balance in adolescent swimmers that was published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.


Katlin Fuel Head Age Group Coach

Originally from Kansas, Katlin started swimming competitively when she was 5 years old and continued to love the sport for the next 13 years with Golden Belt Swim Squad in Western Kansas and Great Bend High School swimming. She fell in loving with coaching and teaching during her time as the Manager for the Boys swim team in highschool and hasn't looked back.


This summer will mark 8 years of coaching swimming and 12 years of teaching swim lessons.


Katlin has her degree in Recreation with minors in both Coaching and Political Science. She was an Assistant Coach for Golden Belt Swim Squad in Great Bend, Kansas; Capital City Swim Club in Topeka, Kansas and the Assistant Coach for the Emporia High School Girl's Swim Team. She also spent time as the Head Coach of the Emporia Aquatic Club in Emporia, Kansas and YDC United Swimming in Madison, Wisconsin. 


Outside of swimming Katlin loves spending time with her two dogs Brooklynn and Rylee curled up with a good book and listening to the latest broadway soundtracks to find a new musical obsession. She also loves to attend live sporting events such as Brewers Baseball or Wisconsin Hockey.

About Kayla

Kayla has been instrumental to the success of the Storm age group program since joining in 2015.  Her passion for the sport began at age 7 when she joined the Piranhas.  She was a member of DFAC Swimming, competed for Sun Prairie High School, and was one of the first members of Sun Prairie Storm.  When she’s not coaching, Kayla works as a dental hygienist.
