Schroeder Swim Team Family Work Requirement Policy

A good portion of the revenue for the swim team comes from hosting meets.  Schroeder could not make it without the help and support of the parents and other volunteers  for these events. There are many changes to this policy. Please review thoroughly.

NOTE:  Mandatory sessions are required regardless of number of sessions/points already completed.  Monetary penalties will be enforced following each mandatory meet (A+ and Y State) and after the last meet of the year in May.  Please see Penalties and Buyouts section below.

Providing Workers:

You will be asked to provide a worker for some meets, EVEN if your swimmer is not competing at a specific meet. The worker can be a family member, friend, the athlete (depending on their age and the position – in general no one under 12, but this is up to the discretion of the Coaches and Volunteer Coordinators), or even a high school student who needs community service hours.

Please ensure that the Volunteer Coordinators know if someone outside of your family is working on your behalf. Be aware that only half of each family’s work requirements can be completed on Friday nights.

Session/Points Equivalents:

1 Point = 1 session worked (am or pm)

The 7 major meets listed above = 1 session worked = 1 point

The 11 intersquad meets listed above = .25 pts. per meet worked

Hospitality contributions = .25 pts. per day donated (signup required)

IF YOUR ATHLETE QUALIFIES FOR THE 12 & U SPRINT STATE MEET OR A+ FINALS ON SATURDAY NIGHT, YOU MUST WORK THIS SESSION!  THIS INCLUDES RELAY ONLY ATHLETES.

 VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

FOR Veteran Families/Transfers:

Veterans are defined as joining the team BEFORE APRIL 1ST OF THE CURRENT YEAR.  Transfers are those who come from another year round swim team. Veteran/transfer families in the following groups must fulfill a minimum of 8 points: Super 8’s, AG1, AG2, AG3, JR1, JR2, SR1, SR2.

FOR New Families:

New Families are defined as those joining the team on or after 4/01/ current year.  New families must fulfill a minimum of 5 points during the year.

SPECIAL EXCEPTION FOR VETERAN/TRANSFER FAMILIES WHOSE ONLY ATHLETE IS A BOY OR GIRL ON HIGH SCHOOL SWIM TEAM:

Must fulfill a minimum of 7 points.  If you work at EBSC Dual or Big Cheese, .50 points will be applied to your balance for each meet.

FOR Schroederstars/Superstars Group:

Families in the Schroederstars and Superstars groups do not have any point requirements.  Please note that if your swimmer advances to the next group (Super 8’s, AG2, AG3), you will be required to fulfill 2 points for the remaining swim calendar year.

JOB SIGNUP INFORMATION

All sign ups are done through your Team Unify account in the Job Sign Up tab next to the hosted meet.  The program will "LOCK" on the Tuesday before the meet begins. After that point families are obligated to find their own replacements for their positions if they cannot work.

The activation dates for Job signups will be communicated through the newsletter. The job signups will be activated and available on a first come, first served basis.

PENALTIES and BUYOUTS

There will be a $75.00 PER POINT fine billed to each family who does not fulfill their required 2019/20 points in May after the Sprint/Distance meet.  If you sign up for a session and fail to show there will be a $150.00 PER SESSION fine billed immediately following the meet. Extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration on a case by case basis, and head coaches will be consulted before making a decision.

If you are unable to work the required number of sessions for a mandatory meet you may pay the session buyout fee instead of working.  For mandatory meets the session buyout starts at $80 and increases for each additional session. This fee will be automatically billed to your account.
