A group of master’s swimmers from Pabst Farms banded together to throw down some amazing swims at the 2023 U.S. Masters Spring Nationals Meet in Irvine, CA from April 27-30th. There was fierce competition with some very notable former Olympians racing like Jenny Thompson, Anthony Ervin, and Nathan Adrian to name a few. [Indianapolis, IN.] The Mid-States All-Star meet was held at the IUPUI Natatorium 1/7/2023-1/8/2023. Emily Gagan was selected to represent Team Wisconsin in the 11-12 girls division for the timed final event, with teams from Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana, and Ohio. Mid-States All-Star meet is a multi-LSC event where each LSC selects swimmers based on their times and events. Athletes that are selected are the top performers in the LSC. Alex was selected to team WI for the 9-10 boys zone team. He had five strong swims, 3 top 8 finishes, and 4 team records. He competed at the University of Minnesota against teams from across the central zone, including Minnesota, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri Valley, Iowa, Midwestern (Nebraska and part of Iowa), Ozark (Oklahoma), and Michigan. Molly, who will be entering her freshman year at Oconomowoc High School competed in the Maccabi Games this summer. Seven 12 & Under Swimmers traveled to Brown Deer, WI for the 2022 12 & Under LCM Wisconsin State Swimming Championships. Throughout the weekend the Piranhas turned in 20 individual lifetime best swims, all four relays were lifetime best swims, and 8 team records. On June 30th, 2022/The Piranha Swim Team sends the largest team in program history to compete at The 2022 Open Water State Meet. Emily will swim a 2000-meter race in the 11-12 age group Gabe, Jack, Molly, and Emma-Jean will swim a 3000-meter race in the 13-14 age group.

Teams from Minnesota, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri Valley, Iowa, Midwestern (Nebraska and part of Iowa), Ozark (Oklahoma), and Michigan competed in the Central zone open water swimming championships. Emily Gagan of the YMCA at Pabst farms Piranhas represented team WI for the 11-12 age group. Emily swam great, with a 4th place finish in her first open water zone meet.

Open Water Zones will start on Friday, 6/17/22. We have our first open water zone qualifier in almost ten years!. Congratulations to Emily Gagan for being selected to Team WI for Open water Zones. To qualify for Open water or Pool zones, swimmers must achieve the time standards and be selected by the Team WI coaching staff. This was a historic moment for the piranhas. The 2022 SCY Meet was the highest has finished since 2011, possible further back as 2011 meet results were the oldest available at this time. The team finished in 7th in Division 3 and 30th overall. Not only was this an incredible finish for them, but it was accomplished with a very young team.
