Fall and Winter Safety Plans by Location

Below you will find the safety information for the upcoming seasons. These plans will be updated as needed and this document can be found on the team website. Flexibility will be a huge part of the upcoming season. Things won’t go perfect and last minute adjustments will need to be made. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

There are a few safety items that will cover all locations:

All Locations

Covid Symptom Monitoring: Please make sure to continuously monitor your children and yourselves for Covid Symptoms. Safety is paramount and a missed practice is better than two weeks shut down because we weren’t being safe. If you have symptoms, stay home.

Mask Requirements: Masks should be worn at all locations by all parents, guardians and swimmers unless the athlete is in the water.

Social Distancing Requirements: Social distancing practices should be followed at all locations by everyone. Coaches will assist with reminding the swimmers by providing spaces before practices and by helping organize the transition between practices.

Covid Response: If you have a confirmed case in your family unit, inform Coach John immediately and follow CDC recommendations for quarantine. The Y will follow up with further details about return to the facility and return to practice.

Covid Confirmed Case: If there is a confirmed case at practice, the Y will communicate with all who were exposed and what families will need to do in response.

Change of Plans Communication: If a practice site, or time needs to shut down, details will be communicated via email ASAP. It will also be posted on the team website with as many details as possible in the News section.

Lawrence University

Per Governor Evers' Executive Order 82, declaring a public health emergency, and corresponding Emergency Order 1 requiring face coverings in the state of Wisconsin, athletes are required to wear protective face coverings over their mouth and nose when inside the LU facility unless they are in the water. Athletes are requested to use the available hand sanitizer when entering the building.

In order to try and reduce and limit contact between athletes at practice, to start the season, practices will be run with no more than 1 swimmer at each end of each lane (16).

In order to try and reduce and limit contact between athletes between practices, there will be designated waiting stations for athletes coming to their practice before entering the water.

LU Lifeguards and cleaning staff will regularly sanitize common touchpoints throughout the pool and facility.

Use of locker rooms will not be allowed other than to use the restroom facilities if needed. If using restroom facilities athletes will sanitize all surfaces used before returning to practice.

Athletes are requested to bring their own drinking water or use the bottle filler in the facility instead of using the regular drinking fountains.

In order to avoid congestion of bodies on the pool deck, parents will not be allowed in the building. Parents are asked to remain socially distanced in their vehicles our outside the facility when waiting for their swimmers before and after practices. Swimmers will check out with a coach before leaving the facility and when they have confirmed that a ride is waiting.

Attendance will be taken at all practices to ensure any potential exposures can be communicated effectively and efficiently. Potential exposures will be communicated according to YMCA and LU policy and procedure.
