in the UWM Strength and Conditioning department for a year while beginning his coaching
career with SWAT. Progressing into his coaching career with SWAT Mike jumped at the
opportunity to coach at Carroll University for a brief two years until recently looking to explore a
new opportunity with SWAT.
“I love the sport of swimming just as much now as I did the day I began. Transitioning from the
role of athlete to coach has been a fun and challenging experience with each passing season. I
have come to appreciate the countless amount of opportunities that swimming has presented to
me both in and out of the pool! Swimming was an outlet to not only challenge myself mentally
and physically but it also created opportunities to explore, build friendships and relationships
that I know will last a lifetime. As a coach I work to help young athletes find their passion for this
sport. I coach to teach kids to use hard work, dedication, positive outlooks and tons of fun to
achieve their goals. I want them to also see what countless friendships and opportunities will
come their way with the true dedication they give to this sport.”

Mark Schrank Lead Coach - Junior Platinum
George Guddie Lead Coach - AGS/AGB

George is the Lead Bronze and Silver Coach, he began coaching as the Head Coach of the UPY Barracudas while attending college in Michigan back in the fall of 1991. Born and raised in Wisconsin Coach Guddie learned to swim as an original “charter” members of SWAT. He joined the SWAT coaching staff in 1995 and has coached various levels in the program. Additional coaching experience includes 7 years of High School Head Coaching (Whitnall Boys and Girls) and 3 Years as a Head Coach for the New Berlin Swim Club.

To me SWAT isn't just about swimming, it is about having fun and working hard, great technique, good sportsmanship and creating enjoyment for a lifelong sport. I coach to bring the joy that a child experiences when they learn a new stroke, earn their first ribbon, and find their competitive drive. Swimming is an enduring sport that builds character, creates lifelong relationships and fosters the will to succeed. It is my privilege to be a part of a great organization!

George and his wife Rebecca live in Muskego and have 4 great children.
