Nicholas Hopson Head Coach

I started swimming in Gillette as part of the swim club and the high school team. I then went on to swim in college at the University of South Dakota. As a former swimmer, I  wish to develop a program that is engaging and enjoyable for my swimmers. My coaching philosophy begins with the athlete/swimmer. One of my goals for my athletes is that they would look back at their time in the sport as a positive experience that helped them grow. I feel strongly that this will also prepare them for what experiences life may bring them in the future.

Vanessa Stakes Assistant Coach

My swimming career began at 8 years old in Virginia. I continued on club and high school swimming in North Carolina, where I also began coaching. I have 3 boys who are all swimmers. Swimming, despite the somewhat crazy schedule, is really what helps my household stay a little less chaotic!

My family and I moved to Casper in February of 2018 and after many previous moves are calling it home now.

In addition to coaching, I am a full-time student at UWCC, pursuing my bachelor's in psychology and social work, after which I will enter the Social Work Master's program. I returned to school after being a stay at home mom for the past 12 years.

As a coach, I hope to provide a safe, welcoming place for every one of your kiddos. My aim is for each swimmer to realize their worth and importance in the midst of learning how to work hard, be persistent, set and work toward goals, and have fun. Swimming is such a valuable and beneficial sport in so many aspects. It has brought so much joy to my family.  and I hope that your family finds joy as well.

Izzie Jones Assistant Coach

I started swimming in the Casper swim club around age 11, and fell in love with the sport. I swam all throughout high school on the Kelly Walsh women’s swim team. Swimming provided me with some of the best lessons, memories, and friends that I could have asked for! I’m currently a student at Casper College, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to keep hanging around at the pool! As a coach, I hope to promote a fun, hardworking team atmosphere where kids  can come to improve themselves as athletes and people, and hopefully fall in love with swimming like I did not too long ago!

Landree Adams Assistant Coach
I started swimming at age 9 for Casper Swim Club! I remember my main goal was to become a swim coach, and I’m thrilled now to have the job of my childhood dreams! I continued swimming through middle school and high school, and spent some years being a Lady Trojan swimmer.

I’ve taught/coached swimming since I was 14! My coaching philosophy is kids are humans first, swimmers second. I really try to establish a safe, positive relationship with my swimmers! I have found this motivating and fulfilling for both the kids and myself.

Personally, I’m working on my Bachelor’s of Social Work through UW-Casper, and I aspire to help kids and families in need. After that, I plan on getting my MSW. My favorite things are hanging out with my family and friends, loving on my animals, and going to concerts!

I am a Director of Human Resources and District Services for the Natrona County School District, and previously was the principal at Casper Classical Academy.  Prior to that I taught elementary school math and science in Lubbock, Texas for five years.  My Bachelor's degree is from the University of Wyoming in Elementary Education, and my Master's degree is from Lubbock Christian University in Educational Administration.

I am married and we have two children.  We are huge Broncos fans and enjoy using our season tickets to attend games down in Denver as often as possible!  We have two rescue dogs, a Basset Hound and a poodle-terrier mix, as well as a fluffy cat and a guinea pig.

Our son has been swimming for four years now aand sometimes our daughter swims in the club as well.  We are grateful for what the Casper Swim Club provides to our children in the areas of hard work, perseverance, and being able to work on individual growth.  I am happy to help serve on the Casper Swim Club's board as their president and to help the club out as an official.  I also served one year as the treasurer of the club.   I serve on a few additional boards: treasurer of my Delta Kappa Gamma chapter and secretary of Casper Five Trails Rotary.
Mary Mwangi Vice President

I am a long time Casper resident.  I attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN where I played soccer and received a Masters of Arts in Occupational Therapy. I was a private practice Occupational Therapist for 13 years before “retiring” to stay home with my five girls. We are a homeschooling family and most of my time is dedicated to teaching my kids and running our household. In between our various activities we enjoying spending time together as a family.

My oldest daughter joined swim club about 4 years ago and she was immediately hooked. Swimming has been a great way to increase her self-confidence and has given her a year-round activity that she loves. I have been serving as swim club vice president for about a year. I initially started as safety director but stepped in as VP when the position became vacated.  It has been a very educational experience for me as I had no idea all that goes into to running a club and into swimming in general. I look forward to doing all I can to help the team grow and prosper and encourage anyone interested in volunteering to jump right in. You won’t regret it!

My family and I moved to Casper in 2014 and we have been part of the Casper Swim Club since that time. I have one daughter in middle school and one in elementary, both of who enjoy training and competing with the club. I am delighted to be on the Board in the role of secretary and to be able to contribute to the continued growth and stewardship of the club. I believe swimming is a fantastic sport that builds lifelong fitness and character. I am a New Zealand national, making Casper our second home after a three-year stint in Rochester Minnesota. I have a PhD and Masters in Psychology and Clinical Psychology, and a background in practicing and academic psychology.

I graduated from Laramie High School in 1994 were I was a member of the Swimming/Diving Team.  I attended Casper College and completed my degree in Radiography in 1998.  I am married to my high school sweetheart and have two wonderful daughters who are very active and keep me busy.  I have been involved with the Casper Swim Club since 2013 when my youngest decided she want to try competitive swimming.  I have been a swim dad, had my coaching credentials, and have been an Official since 2014.  I am excited to serve on the board for the Casper Swim Club as the Officials Rep in hopes to help the club grow and be sustainable for years to come.  I feel kids that are engaged in an activity and feel like they are part of team will succeed in the future.
