A couple notes USA Swimming Registration, Athlete Protection Training and Background checks:

You must be a member of USA Swimming. The 2018 fee is $63. Membership is valid for one year and expires on 12/31/of that year. Here is the 2018 Membership form.

Officials must  complete the Athlete Protection Training  ( www.usaswimming.org/APT  ).  The training is free, and takes about an hour, and is valid for 2 years, expiring on the last day of the 2nd year, (12/31/20XX)

You must also pass the USA Swimming Background check. Here is the link: www.usaswimming.org/backgroundcheck  If it is your first time the cost is $38, renewals are $18. A background check is valid for 2 years and expires on the last day of the month in which you first passed, but 2 years later.

With these items there is no grace period, so keep your registration card or certification card with you for reference.  Status is also available at the Officials Tracking site at USA Swimming so get in the habit of checking your certification and other important information. Expiration dates are included on your official's card, Deck Pass, and Official's Tracking System.
