SBY's Austin Stallworth Commits to Birmingham Southern College

Nick Lambert

Swim Birmingham YMCA's Austin Stallworth has announced his verbal commitment to Birmingham Southern College!  Austin will graduate from Spain Park High School in May 2020 and join the BSC Panther's class of 2024 under Head Coach Toby Wilcox.  Coach Wilcox, in his 8th year as Head Coach, currently has his men's team ranked as the 19th DIII team in the nation and has won the past five (5) Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Conference Championships.

"I committed to Birmingham Southern College because of the professors and coaching staff.  As soon as I stepped on campus, I knew that this would be my home for the next 4 years.  I would like to thank all the people who have helped me get here!  Go Panthers!."

Austin, a sprint freestyle specialist, will make an immediate impact for the Panthers next year.  He will head into his Freshman season already as a Top 3 swimmer in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle.  Austin is a YMCA National Qualifier in multiple events, Southern Zone All-Star, Southeastern Swimming finalist, and multi-year medalist in several events at the Alabama High School Swimming & Diving State Championship.  When he isn't coaching or teaching swim lessons in the summer, Austin helps deliver for Meals on Wheels and is a member of the Alabama Power Service Organization (APSO).  He is also a member of DECA and the Finance Academy at Spain Park High School.

Congratulations, Austin!  We look forward to following and cheering on your academic and athletic career for the next 4 years and beyond!
