SBY Kicks Off 2020 In Memphis

Nick Lambert

Swim Birmingham YMCA broke into the new year with stellar performances in Memphis, TN this past weekend during the annual Gabrielle Rose Invite.  SBY's 23 swimmers took on almost 600 athletes representing 16 teams from 7 states ranging from Louisiana to Ohio who were all vying for a spot in finals each night.  At the conclusion of Sunday evening's session, the team had accounted for 73 swims in finals, 28 of which were Top 3 finishes, and a whopping 14 (50%) of those were 1st place finishes and Event Champions!

The team also saw 5 Team Records go down, one (1) new Y-National cut, one (1) new Futures cut, and multiple new Southeastern qualifying standards and best times acheived!  What a great display of effort, hard work, and team spirit!

Great job SBY!
