Coaching Staff

   Nick Lambert
Associate Swim Team Coach & Greystone Head Site Coach

Coach Nick has been a coaching staple in the City of Birmingham over the past 13 years.  He is now beginning his 5th season with Swim Birmingham YMCA and serves as Association Head Coach and Head Site Coach of the Greystone Branch.  Prior to his arrival at SBY, Nick spent 8 years at Birmingham Swim League, working his way up from Head Developmental Coach to Interim Head Coach, while coaching numerous summer league programs to better the sport for the city. Nick has enjoyed success throughout his career and has had the opportunity to coach and develop swimmers at the highest levels of the sport, including Olympic Trial qualifiers, Junior National Qualifiers, Southeastern Champions, YMCA National Qualifiers, High School State Champions, and multiple Southeastern Zone Allstar Teams, one of which won the Southeastern Zone Championships.

Prior to his coaching career, Coach Nick studied Athletic Training at Troy University, where he was a member of the Troy University Track & Field Team and served as a Student Athletic Trainer for the Troy University Football Team. Nick's background in Athletic Training helps him focus on injury prevention as a tool in producing well rounded, long term athletes. His education and understanding of the biomechanics that go into swimming helps him develop dynamic, science based workouts for each group, believing that training methods should always reflect the swimmers' and group's current and future needs. This method goes alongside Coach Nick's long-held view that athletes benefit most from participating in both group and individualized training where focusing on the details is the key to success.

Nick resides in Pelham with his wife, Jennifer and his four children. In his free time he enjoys playing in the yard with the family, swimming, and working on projects around the house.
