A Welcome Back Message from Coach Todd

Greetings Wahoo Parents and Swimmers,

As we enter Labor Day weekend, I wanted to convey a warm “Welcome Back” from myself, the Wahoo Staff, and our own Wilton Family YMCA.

We are very grateful to embark on what will be our first normal competitive swimming season since March 2020.

There are a lot of exciting events we are anticipating. An Olympic Swimmer Clinic with Maya Dirado, Was vs Hoos, a Parent Social, a new scoreboard, a December travel meet and our 50th Anniversary Celebration in June 2022 are just a sample of what we will anticipate will begin to highlight our year.

A new season brings a new look to each training squad.  Swimmers and coaches alike will begin to acclimate to one another.  This past week Wahoo tryouts were held and over 75 potential NEW Wahoos may be joining our ranks.  Please make sure to extend a warm Welcome to ALL our new Team Members.  You can be a positive resource for them in answering any questions they may have.

Our new Fitness Director, Rhoda Kasparek has worked hard designing our new dryland training schedules.  Look for the schedule to be posted soon and commence sometime is mid to late September.

The addition of Walter “Pete” Peters to our Aquatics Department will benefit our younger swimmers greatly.  He will be involved in swim lessons and The Wahoo Swim Academy as well as jump in to assist Coach Ray and Eric with the Super Bronze and Super Squad groups.  This is so valuable as we continue to develop proper technique within our younger swimmers.

Informational, Coach Run Parent meetings will be scheduled and held inn the near future.  Please make sure that at least one parent from each Wahoo household attends these important meetings as valuable information is conveyed, and important questions will be answered.  Anticipate these meetings to take place between September 13-24.

Welcome Back and enjoy the weekend.

All my best,

Todd Stevens

Director of Competitive Aquatics
