COVID Guidelines and Procedures

 

WAHOO TEAM COVID-19 Mask Policy UPDATED August 3, 2021

The Wilton Y Wahoos have adjusted our Mask-Wearing Policy for all practices, meets, and water activities in accordance with Governor Ned Lamont's Updated Mask Policies (FOUND HERE). Beginning Wednesday, August 3, 2021, please be aware of the following guidelines.

SWIMMERS: ALL SWIMMERS REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS will continue to wear their masks while inside the YMCA Building at all times for practices and meets. Once outside, swimmers may remove their masks if they choose to. Mask bags will continue to be available for those who choose to use them. Swimmers will continue to sit spread out on the pool deck.

ADULTS (Coaches, Parents, Volunteers): Adults for Non-Meet Activities:“CDC Guidelines are recommending that ALL Individuals, vaccinated and not vaccinated, wear masks inside the Y buildings. Unvaccinated individuals MUST continue to wear masks inside the Y Buildings.” ALL ADULTS regardless of vaccination status may choose to not wear a mask when outside.

Adults for Meets: ALL ADULTS AT SWIM MEETS REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS will need to wear their masks when inside the Wilton Family YMCA. ALL ADULTS at meets regardless of vaccination status may choose to not wear a mask when outside.

WILTON Y WAHOOS RETURN TO LOCKER ROOM USE:

·        All Wahoos will continue to arrive to the pool for practice in their swimsuits.

·        Lockers WILL NOT be used by Wahoos for storing personal belongings. All belongings will be brought onto the pool deck with the swimmer.

·        At the conclusion of practice:

    • If NOT changing out of a wet suit:
      • Dry off on pool deck.
      • Mask on before leaving pool deck through the main building. Masks not required if exiting through the outside pool gate.
      • Exit out through the locker rooms, through the lobby, and out through the front door. When the bubble is off, swimmers may exit through the pool deck gate to the pick-up circle
    • If changing out of your wet suit:
      • Dry off on pool deck.
      • Mask on before leaving pool deck.
      • Enter the locker room and change out of your wet suit. MASKS MUST REMAIN ON WHILE CHANGING AT ALL TIMES.
      • All changing must be completed within 15 minutes of practice ending. Locker rooms are not a social environment. Locker room privileges can and will be revoked if used inappropriately.
      • Exit out through the locker rooms, through the lobby, and out through the front door.        

SHOWER USE

·      Showers WILL NOT be used by Wahoos Swimmers before, during, or after practice. 

COLLEGE SWIMMERS RETURNING TO THE WAHOOS:

·        Y Membership is a MUST!  The Y has a college membership available.

·        You must be a registered USA Swimming member (WYW will register you if you are not already)

·        Completed SafeSport Course Certificate sent to JoAnn ([email protected]) for any returning College athletes 18 years or older.  The link is found here  https://www.usaswimming.org/resource-center/athlete-protection-training

·        After you have gotten your Y membership, and taken your SafeSport Certification, please reach out to JoAnn ([email protected]) so that you can get registered.
