General information
The Blue Wave summer swim team is part of the Central Iowa Swim conference that includes the following teams: Marshalltown, Ankeny, Walnut Creek, Pella, Grinnell, Newton, Knoxville, Waukee and Rathbun Lake. Participants will gain swimming knowledge, experience, and overall health through this competitive swim program. Emphasis of the program is skill development, sportsmanship and the enjoyment of swim competition. Younger participants should be able to swim multiple lengths of the pool (unassisted using no floatation device) without touching the bottom. Advanced swimmers should possess the ability to skillfully swim strokes in ranges of 2-4,000 yards per practice. Competitive swimming is not a “learn to swim” program.
Prerequisite: Swim 25 yards each front crawl and back crawl without assistance or equipment

Summer Session Fees:
- Members
- $100 per swimmer (Advanced and Intermediate Advance AM sessions)
- Non-Members
- $150 per swimmer (Advanced or Intermediate Advanced AM Sessions)
- Y membership NOT required for participation in Summer program
- Scholarships available for those needing assistance
Parent Volunteer Commitments
Each swimmer’s family is expected to make a volunteer commitment to the team. Families will be scheduled to support home meets during the 2022 summer swim season. Volunteers who work 3 home meets will receive a $10 voucher for use on next season’s registration fee.
Practice Schedule
Advanced Swimmers M-F 6:55 - 8:25 a.m.
Advanced/Intermediate M-F 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
Dates: June 5 - July 15, 2023 Season ends with the Conference meet on Saturday, July 15th in Marshalltown.
